Trainer Matt Dunn has mixed feelings about the forecast for further rain in Brisbane as he plots the campaigns of Quatronic and Snitz.

Quatronic returns from a injury hiccup in Saturday’s Class Six (1200m) while Snitz is set to tackle the Two-Year-Old (1050m) on the Doomben program.

At his most recent start Quatronic started a short-priced favourite but ran last behind Pinch River in a 1050m-open handicap at Doomben on February 25.

Dunn said he would be reluctant to run Quatronic, one of the most promising horses in his stable, on anything worse than a soft track.

“He had a bit of problem when he returned home after his last start when he was well beaten. But he is better than that,” Dunn said.

He said Quatronic was a horse who had to be carefully managed and didn’t take hard racing.

But Dunn is keen to run Snitz on a heavy track even from the outside barrier.

“Normally you would scratch him straight away if he drew 14 out of 14 from that start,” he said.

“But on a wet track it is a different story. He is bred to handle the wet and he did a good job to win his first start at Grafton on a soft track from a wide barrier.

“I think he has enough pace to get into a good position in the wet even from that barrier.”
