Dwyer With Chance At VOBIS Gold Rush Again

rainer Henry Dwyer won the VOBIS Gold Rush with If Not Now When a year ago and is hoping to snare the lucrative race at Bendigo again.

Dwyer has three acceptors in Saturday’s $250,000 VOBIS Gold Rush, all first starters, but whether the juveniles all take their place has yet to be decided with Cameron Diazzler and Tan Tat Flame also entered elsewhere.

Je Suis Tycoon is set to run and Dwyer believes she is the most ready-made of the trio for the 1000m race.

“Tan Tat Flame may run at Wangaratta on Friday or may run at Bendigo,” Dwyer said.

“Cameron Diazzler is also in at Cranbourne on Friday night. She probably won’t run at Cranbourne because she’s drawn barrier 10, so she’ll run at Bendigo or somewhere next week.

“Je Suis Tycoon will definitely run at Bendigo. She’s probably the sharpest, most switched-on one of them.

“She’s the readiest to go, where as the other two fillies are fillies who are probably going to get over slightly further and appreciate the run a bit more.”

Dwyer said the VOBIS Gold races were attractive options because of their restricted nature and prize money.

“You don’t get the opportunity to run in a restricted $250,000 race every day,” he said.

Dwyer believes Je Suis Tycoon is the right type for the race.

“She’s only a small filly but she flies the gates, puts herself there and she’s fit and ready to go,” he said.

“She trialled well at Cranbourne and she’s mentally ready.

“There’s some smart fillies there but I think she’s a pretty smart filly too.

“I don’t know whether she’ll beat Limestone, but she’ll run well.

“Cameron Diazzler, she’ll probably be ridden back if she goes there and she’ll finish off. She’s a nice filly going forward towards 1400 metres or a mile.

“The other filly is good but probably just coming towards the end of it for this time.”

The Darren Weir-trained Limestone, the winner of two of her four starts, takes strong form into the race having beaten Tulip in the Blue Diamond Preview before being beaten narrowly by Catchy in the fillies Blue Diamond Prelude.
