Session 1 of the inaugural Chairman’s Sale for Elite Racing Prospects will be conducted tonight at 6.00pm at the Inglis Newmarket complex, just prior to Day 1 of The Championships.
Buyers will have the opportunity to purchase all, or a percentage of selected runners entered in The Championships to be conducted over the following two Saturdays 1, 8 April at Royal Randwick.
The catalogue is headed by the progressive stakes placed 2yo Eden Roc, who is his sire’s most expensive yearling at $750,000 and is coming of a fourth in the Gr2 Skyline Stakes and third in the listed Lonhro Plate. He is a three-quarter brother to the Gr2 Schillarci Stakes winner Star Turn from the winning Fastnet Rock mare Hilton Head.
Eden Roc’s sire Star Witness is currently leading third sire having won the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and has sired 84 winners and 8 stakes winners including the Gr1 Flight Stakes winner Global Glamour and Star Turn, the Gr2 Schillarci Stakes winner.
The Irish import Chance to Dance drops to 51.5kg for the Sydney Cup at The Championships having carried 58kg when fourth in the recent Adelaide Cup. He is stakes winner of 7 races up to 2400m in Ireland and Melbourne and is by the successful sire Teofilo from the immediate family of English and Irish 2000 Guineas winner Rodrigo de Triano.
Such is the conditions of The Chairman’s Sale of Racing Prospects that Chance to Dance vendor’s Hudson Conway Racing have stated “Current owners will offer to remain in for 25% at successful purchasers’ discretion. Horse may also remain in training with Robert Hickmott up until the Sydney Cup, should the successful buyer wish to so.”
Two share on a first right of refusal basis are offered in the Anthony Cummings trained 3yo Man From Uncle who is entered for the Australian Derby, Doncaster Mile and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
A winner of the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes, Gr3 Eskimo Stakes and almost $400,000 in stakes Man From Uncle is by the US Gr1 leading sire Uncle Mo who sired the Kentucky Derby Nyquist in his first crop.
Also sired by Uncle Mo is the listed Dulcify Quality Handicap winner Moqueen, with a 28.75% share offered by her owners. Also placed third in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes she is entered for the Australian Oaks and the Coolmore Legacy Stakes and is from the successful stakes family of sire Criterion, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Australian Derby winner.
A 30% share is offered in the Gr2 and Gr3 placed winning 3yo colt Land Of Plenty, by who is entered in the Australian Derby, Doncaster Mile and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He is by the Golden Slipper winner Stratum from the American Gr2 winner Dancing and a half-brother to listed winner Macduff.
