*Star Bet of the card is PENNY MONELLI (1) who is on the massive down grade after running in a heat of the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg and has come up with a gun inside alley. She is a top-class WA chaser with 17 wins under her belt and recently flew to the Eastern states testing herself against the best in Victoria at The Meadows running amazing figures of 29.63 while matching it with the best around. After this she was set for the rich Golden Easter Egg with a flying 29.84 solo trial at Wentworth Park in preparation and had no luck in her heat run last week but was very brave. This race sets up perfectly for her with no pressure on her outside with a slow beginner on her outside and a pacey wide runner in box 3 to run cover in the early stages for Penny to explode along the rails and find the bunny to put a gap in these down the back. The middle draws of 4, 5 & 6 have limited to no early pace and will battle to get around the wide runner in box 3 in the run to the 1st turn with 7 & 8 running a straight line down the outside but nothing has the acceleration to cross the red. Early betting across the corporates and the TAB’s has PENNY MONELLI around the $1.70 to $1.80 mark which is massive overs in my mind as she is a genuine $1.30 chance. The 2nd favourite in the race is the (3) Lochinvar Dash around the $4.60 to $5 and this should be double figures while the strong finisher is (6) Where Art Thou who is also hard in the market but it will be spotting us a huge start from out the back and can’t run Penny down.
