RICHIES BEST BETS

KEMBLA

TUESDAY 2 MAY

RAIL: True                     TRACK: Good

RACE 1          NO.6               SHIELD WALL

As the betting suggests there are two main chances in the race (3) La Chatte and my selection (6) Shield Wall.

There isn’t a designated leader but I expect Miss Fortuitous even though dropping back 500m will kick up and be prominent especially with blinkers for the first time. Royal Stamp will hold its spot handy to the speed.

It will be interesting to see what Corey Brown and Hugh Bowman do on the two fancies.

Shield Wall will be handy and ready to pounce with Hugh Bowman aboard.

She’s had three runs back from a break so there should be no excuses she is ready to rock’n’roll. I thought she was a shade disappointing last start when narrowly beaten here at Kembla but now on a drier surface, a top jockey and limited chances its D-Day.

Her danger is La Chatte who is coming back a mile in grade after running in the group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes when beaten a long way. That was a month ago and she has had a trial in between but you just can’t push a button. If she has overcome that run she poses a threat.

Selections:       6 Shield Wall    3 La Chatte                   5 Royal Stamp

RACE 5          NO.4               ALERT BY SEA

In what looks a tricky race avoid of any real speed I think the locally trained galloper Alert By Sea can give us a good run for our money. First of all put a line through her last run at Goulburn in the Provincial Championship race on a heavy track. She comes back home to Kembla over the 1400m where all her three career wins have been and she doesn’t have enough early speed to put herself in a striking position.

I see her main threat as her stablemate Shelley’s Girl who is better suited over further but off the back of a handy first up run she can play a role here.

The favourite Ready Set Sing is obviously a winn9ing chance and is another who has an outstanding record at Kembla.

Selections:       4 Alert By Sea3 Shelley’s Girl 6 Ready Set Sing

RACE 7          NO.3               MAZAZ

We finish the day with a Class 1 & Maiden Plate and at best we could describe it as a moderate event.

Due to the lack of quality I think us punters can finish the day with a bang by following the combination of Chris Waller and Hugh Bowman with the former UK galloper Mazaz.

The son of Galileo has had two runs in Australia and without setting the world on fire I thought his latest run was fair and that just might be good enough here.

Good trainer and jockey, third run on our soil, stepping up in trip to 2000m and lack of opposition makes me believe this is it otherwise he may be bound back across the seas.

There isn’t much between a few of the others including (1) As Good As It Gets, (2) Loud Enough, (5) Rokda Kasba and (10) Pygmy

Selections:       3 Mazaz           1 As Good As It Gets    5 Rokda Kasba

RACE 1          NO.6               SHIELD WALL

RACE 5          NO.4               ALERT BY SEA

RACE 7          NO.3               MAZAZ
