 GOSFORD

THURSDAY 4 MAY

RAIL: True                             TRACK: Good

RACE 3          Benchmark 63

 NO.2               VICEMAN

VICEMAN has drawn the outside in the field and there looks genuine speed underneath him so unless he fly’s the gates and lands in front I expect he will slip in behind the speed and charge late. That said he could easily go ‘bang’ and be outside the leader and dictating the race. He resumes here off one trial where he was in cruise control looking to have developed since his first campaign. I think he’s a midweek horse and with any luck can take the step required here.

Selections:       2 Viceman                   1 Diplomacia                5 Hashtag Noidea

RACE 4          3YO Maiden

 NO.1               EL VENETIAN

In a race where I think there are only two genuine chances I think the addition of blinkers will prove the difference and EL VENETIAN can record his first victory. He will need to be on his game early as there is speed drawn underneath him but I expecting the blinkers to sharpen him up and with an aggressive ride early from Tim Clark he can take the race by the scruff of the neck. Not often you can say a Gai Waterhouse runner was going to improve with the run but I do believe the first up run would have bought him on. He wasn’t far behind Pelorus Jack last start and he was able to win a stronger event at Warwick Farm yesterday. BROODWAR is ready to fire third up and after two runs at the 1000m the step up a furlong looks ideal.

Selections:       1 El Venetian   3 Broodwar                  7 Impurity

RACE 7          Fillies & Mares Maiden

 NO.7               SILENT SEA

SILENT SEA resumes from 10 months on the sideline from racing albeit she did have a failed preparation just prior to Xmas. Her two trials this time around have been encouraging and if she is destined for Saturday races and beyond she has to account for this lot. From barrier one I expect Corey Brown to bounce her out and be positive looking to control the race from the top or at worst sitting on the leaders rump. Having raced four times in her career she has recorded three second placings and a third. Primavera looks the obvious danger but she is likely to be giving Silent Sea a handy start as they straighten for home.

Selections:       7 Silent Sea                  6 Primavera                  8 Sunset Jewel
