Cumani pleads guilty to two charges

Trainer Matt Cumani has pleaded guilty to two charges relating to his failure to notify stewards of a strangles infection in his Ballarat stables.

Cumani fronted the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a charge of conduct prejudicial to the image, interests, or welfare of racing and of failing to notify Racing Victoria of a strangles infection for almost a month.

RAD Board Judge Bowman is considering penalty, with Cumani’s legal representative suggesting a significant fine, with part suspended, would be appropriate.
