Group 1 racing took place in Brisbane and Adelaide on the week end with Sense Of Occasion getting the job done for Kris Lees with Corey Brown aboard in the G1 Doomben Cup. Kris Lees has done an excellent job with the horse with him having 11 starts for 3 wins, 3 placings, 3 fourth placings and $1,385,190 in prizemoney in that time.
In Adelaide David Hayes took out the G1 Goodwood with stable newcomer Vega Magic who had to do it tough sitting outside the lead before kicking back to win after being headed in the straight. The Hayes camp had an unbelievable week training in total 14 winners from 38 runners including grand campaigner Extra Zero who notched up only win number 7 but has amassed $1.7 million in prizemoney.
Whilst on hot stables it would be hard to go past young QLD trainer Ben Currie who had a Saturday to remember getting a win at Doomben in race 1 with Gully Command then winning 5 of the 7 races won on his home track at Toowoomba. For the week, the stable had 12 runners for 7 winners and 2 third placegetters. It follow’s hot on the heels of his big day at on Toowoomba Cup day in early April where he trained a treble on his home track.
Matthew Howard of Mounting Yard Mail was back at Rosehill after his spell and hit the ground running with 3 of his on top selections from the yard getting home for followers. Below is this week’s report which you can read Matthew’s thoughts on his Facebook page each Saturday prior to each race to assist with finding some winners:

IPSO FACTO | Parades a little fresh today, not for me. | 6th |
ADSUM | Nice long striding colt. Is definitely forward enough to run a competitive race. | 7th |
ALIK | Quite patchy in the coat and displays some behavioral negatives. | 8th |
CONNOISSEUR | This horse is up from the 1000m to the 1200 but parades like a 1000m horse. Not for me. | 5th |

HORSE NAME | NOTES | FINISHING POSITION |
SECRET TRAIL | Has returned in good order here. Looks forward enough and healthy in the coat. | 4th |
LOVERBOY CHARLIE | Like this horse. He’s not the biggest horse but very athletic. The main issue for him is the weight he has to carry. Would prefer they claimed. | 6th |
