 ROSEHILL

SATURDAY 3 JUNE

RAIL: +6m                             TRACK: Good 3

 Race 2             No.1    New Universe

New Universe is two from two since arriving on our shores and although I thought he was under the odds last start I believe the black odds currently being offered is more than fair.

He steps back up to 1200m and unlike last start where there was only one designated leader there looks enough pressure here to make sure it’s a genuinely run race giving him his chance to run over them late.

Last start was the first time the son of Darci Brahma had been on anything other than a good track and not saying he didn’t like the slow surface but it may have just dulled his acceleration. With perfect weather this week the Rosehill track will be perfect.

Brenton Avdulla has stayed in Sydney looking to increase his margin on Hugh Bowman in the Sydney jockeys premiership and New Universe will hopefully help him do that.

Race 3             No.3    Wahng Wah

The three leading chances here all clashed last start at Rosehill a fortnight ago where Dagny won beating Labdien and back in third was Wahng Wah.  For today’s event I quickly came to think it’s a two horse race ruling out Labdien who had every possible last start and although running well meets the third horse worse at the weights and I am not convinced she runs a strong 1500m.

So I am left with Dagny $2.4 and Wahng Wah that is $4.4 which if the price difference isn’t enough to sway me the four kilo turn around certainly is.  I am not knocking Dagny as she was good last start but Wahng Wah was every bit as good and she gets the weight turnaround and an extra 100m which I believe will suit and not to mention a smaller field meaning less traffic to deal with. One of them will get the chocolates I’m hoping its Wahng Wah.

Race 5             No.7    Just Dreaming

Just Dreaming turns up here off the back of an outstanding fourth in the Scone Guineas where she travelled deep throughout and yet was only beaten a length and half by some top line three-year-olds. After the run she endured she was entitled to drop out at the furlong yet she showed plenty of fight and the others only put the margin on her in the final few strides.

Today she draws barrier 3 and should be able to secure an economical run in behind El Venetian and Uptown Lad that are expected to roll forward. With a soft run she will get the opportunity to utilise her turn of speed and at the odds of $6 and $2.2 she is sure to give her supporters a great run for their money.
