Dettori expects to ride in French Oaks

Frankie Dettori expects to be fit to ride the John Gosden-trained Shutter Speed in the French Oaks, the Prix de Diane, at Chantilly after injuring an arm in a parade ring fall.

The popular jockey was thrown from the Gosden-trained Tivoli at Yarmouth on Tuesday.

Tivoli was withdrawn from the fillies’ maiden and Dettori was stood down for the rest of the day.

“I saw him last night and he was his usual chirpy self,” his agent Ray Cochrane said.

“His arm is sore. He’s been to see the physio who just wants it to settle down for a couple of days before he gets to work on it.

“He should be fine to ride Shutter Speed on Sunday, anyway.”

His injury meant Dettori missed riding American trainer Wesley Ward’s horses in a work-out at Ascot ahead of next week’s Royal meeting.

Ryan Moore partnered the Ward-trained King’s Stand contender Lady Aurelia in her gallop.
