Boiling water burns Stockdale at Sandown

A mishap with a bucket of boiling water has ended the day for apprentice Brandon Stockdale at Sandown.

The apprentice suffered a scalded arm after spilling boiling water in the jockeys room and was treated on course before being transported to hospital in considerable pain.

Stockdale, who has been suffering from a head cold, was offered the bucket of boiling water as a way to relieve congestion in his head after riding Can Star into eighth place in the Clanbrooke Racing Handicap on Wednesday.

He was replaced on his remaining five rides and transported to Dandenong Hospital for further treatment.
