Craig Williams holds a three-win lead in the jockeys’ premiership.

Craig Williams has consolidated his lead in the Melbourne jockeys’ premiership with victory in the opening race at Sandown.

Williams guided Tan Tat Trusting to success in the Dream Thoroughbreds Plate (1600m) on Wednesday to give him a three-win lead over apprentice Beau Mertens in the race for premiership honours.

The metropolitan season winds up at Caulfield on Saturday.
