CUP DAY

COFFS HARBOUR

BEST BET:

Race 7             No.1    Pelethronius

PELETHRONIUS is simply low flying at present and looks very hard to beat in today’s Coffs Harbour Cup. He has won four in a row and even though he won first up on a Good surface at Kembla it wasn’t till last start when he was dominate at Randwick on a good rating track I was convinced he wasn’t just a wet tracker. Kerrin McEvoy makes his first visit to Coffs and although he has drawn a little awkward I think if he has any luck he’ll be getting the chocolates.

VALUE  BETS:

Race 1             No.9    Dorawin

DORAWIN has had 15 goes at winning her maiden and again today like previously is capable of winning if the luck falls her way. She is fit, the claim for Cejay Graham helps and the drop back to 1300m is no issue as there looks a fair tempo on paper.

At the $10 I think she’s a good gamble.

Race 2             No.11  Near Silenus

NEAR SILENUS is having her first run for Taree conditioner Ross Stitt after being formally trained at Warwick Farm by John Steinmetz who still owns the mare. She was impressive winning two runs back at Goulburn when beating Mozart’s Work before struggling at Taree on a soft racing surface. The firmer track will help and I think she can bounce back at good odds.

Currently she is around the $15 quote.

HAWKESBURY

THURSDAY 3 AUGUST

RAIL: +3m 1300m-W/Post, True remainder         TRACK: Good 4 (Peno: 4.97)

HAWKESBURY

Race 7             No.1    Bombardier

BOMBARDIER was caught late here four weeks ago after failing to settle in the run and being left in front a long way from the finishing line. That was his first start for Mark Newnham as he was formally with James Cummings before his departure to Godolphin so an extra month to learn about the horse should be a help to enable him to settle. He has drawn wide but with any luck I think he’ll be too good.
