Saturday metropolitan racing in Queensland is on again at Doomben. We are lucky to have brilliant track staff at Doomben, keeping the track in good order with such a large amount of racing being done on it. The track is currently rated a Good 4, with the rail out 4m the entire course.

5 FUTURE EVENT put up a big effort last time when 3 deep on speed only to go down 1L in a bunched finish last time out. This race has slightly less depth, and from the gate, I’d expect B Stewart to have him in the first 2 and winning. 4 REAL PRINCESS looked the winner until nabbed late by SNAPCHAT GIRL in the same race as FUTURE EVENT the last start. Doesn’t look to get the best run from the gate, will be giving FUTURE EVENT a start, but is the main danger. 1 DIOMEDES 2 ARRESTAR & 3 LADY LARK to battle out the minor prize.

Race 2
2200m Bench Mark 80 sees a small field of 8 engaged to slog it out. 2 LOVING HOME & 6 STANLEY fought out the finish last time, with STANLEY lasting in a close finish. 2 LOVING HOME meeting 6 STANLEY 1.5kg better at the weights, which could be the difference here. 3 DEVIL HAWK also from the Waller yard, made good ground late in a much tougher race the last start. Is a former Group 3 winner, albeit 2 years ago, has the ability to get over the top of these.

3 COMACINA comes here on the 7 days back up, after a 3.4L 7th behind OXFORD POET last Saturday. He has won over the trip and hasn’t missed a place at this track over the distance. 5 SKILLFUL & 8 CHLOE’S COMET are both winning chances and are the next best.

2 STAR REFLECTION comes up short here, bringing reasonable Sydney form. She arguably should have won the last start, after being tardy away. The slow start likely cost her the race, I thought she had her chance in the straight; she just didn’t quick enough to force the run. She can win, for sure, but no good thing. I’m happy to roll the dice at double figure odds with 4 ROSIE POSIE. Think there’s enough speed to see her balance up the midfield, and if Ruby Ride can get a trail and into the race and hold her until the turn, she has a good enough sprint to be right in the finish. A host of chances outside of those 2 for the minors, including 5,6,9,10

Speed here with usual pacemaker 2 SHEISWHATSHEIS & 3 ALLKNIGHT SAINT rolling forward. 5 PINDAN PEARL gets the run of the race, and drops in weight from her third placing in the listed TATTS MILE last time. She is consistent, and is over due to break through here. . 7 GLENDARA comes through the same race, and is a chance also. While 9 TAP THIS is getting a more suitable distance and can include in trifectas.

A very even BM70 1615m here, and I’m very keen 10 HIGH DEGREE at the EACH WAY price. She ran home well in the much stronger TATTS MILE at listed level last time, and a repeat of that has her winning this. The stable and jockey combination are in winning form and looks a lock at the each way. 15 GYPSY MISS backs up after a 3.3L 6th to meet and greet last time, is a chance again here. 3 ROGALI should box seat behind the expected leader 5 LITTLE WEALTH and is a top 3 chance.

4 MISHANI SLEUTH is the BEST WIN bet today, he brings excellent form lines through PRIORITISE. He won’t be too far off them from the good gate and expect him to get over the top of these. 1 MARKSFIELD is the danger, just a slight question mark given he is having his third run in 3 weeks. He arguably should have won the last start, he just raced fiercely and wide before tiring late, blinkers off here today. 2 YABA DABL DOYA is racing well can place along with 11 MALVERN ESTATE.

A very competitive Saturday class 3, with a number of chances in a good race. The early speed will make or break for a few here. 5 SONG ONE the interesting runner here looked a real winning hope before being swamped late by the inform KHALAMA the last start. He strips fitter here for that effort, and if he can get across outside the leader economically, he is a big hope. 7 IGNITE THE LIGHT can be first to the fence, was good winning first up but this is harder. 2 IMPREGNABLE is another potential on speed runner, has just been getting it done in weaker class. 1 HAVASAY will get a soft run in transit and be in the finish. Same goes for 14 & 10.

Saving the best race for last here, with a hot 1200m OPEN hcp. I hope we are in front coming to the last, as this is difficult to split. 6 SUNNY VICTORY went 417 into $10 when nosing out 1 CHARLIE BOY last time, both are chances from good games. 7 TUMBLER is a ripper mare, just a slight concern how far back she gets here. 3 IRISH CONSTABULARY has drawn horrible again and will be wide again. Learning to 1 CHARLIE BOY from the good draw, slight question mark on his will to win, but with a touch of luck and being fitter second up, will roll the dice Each way on him.
