Sheiswhatsheis, Fancourt keep on winning

Apprentice Lani Fancourt declared front-running mare Sheiswhatsheis her new favourite horse after they combined for another win at Doomben on Saturday.

Sheiswhatsheis made it five wins at the Doomben 1600m and in four of those Fancourt has been the jockey.

It was a tried-and-true formula when Fancourt took Sheiswhatsheis ($2.90) to the lead and they went on to beat stablemate Pindan Pearl ($4) by a half length in the Jockey Celebration Day Handicap.

“I go back to her two-year-old days and I have done a lot of work with her,” Fancourt said.

“I have had four metropolitan wins on the big girl, so yes, she is my favourite horse now,” Fancourt said.

Trainer Tony Gollan is in two minds whether to spell Sheiswhatsheis or to press on with the mare who had only two-and-a-half weeks rest in the winter.

“It is hard to spell a horse when they are in a winning mood,” Gollan said.

Pindan Pearl ran another honest race but is still looking for her first Queensland win.

“She has been so honest and tough but keeps running into one a bit better. But we did get some black type for her this campaign which is good,” Gollan said.

Trainer David Vandyke said he was pleased with the effort of former Adelaide Guineas winner Alpha Beat ($10) who finished third.

“I just wish we could get a wet track for him,” Vandyke said.
