Snowy’s mail has you covered @ Caulfield

CAULFIELD SUNDAY October 1.

Sunday group 1 racing at Caulfield caps off a huge weekend after The Valley Friday night and of course the Tigers at The G on Saturday. (No surprise Dusty Jack having a breather from the first today).

Track perfect, a Caulfield firm 3 with rail true so no excuses.

BEST BET: Race 3: #1 HARDHAM $1.7

BEST VALUE: Race 4: #8 COOL CHAP  $8.5

Race 1: 5-9-15-13

Keen the STEEL FROST can bring his Adelaide form to Melbourne. Gets good trail on speed. HUNTING HILL has the speed to roll forward and eliminate alley. SPECIAL DIVA comes back to 1400m after being  just 1.85 lens from Samovare so that reads well. Respecting Weir newcomer IMPERATOR AUGUSTUS though form card reads like it wants softer ground than will get today.

Suggested: STEEL FROST to make it a hat-trick but well found in markets.  $3.4

Race 2: 5-1-7-11

Got to say QUILISTA was disappointing going under in the red in Adelaide. Going on win at the track and trip prior. SNITTY KITTY has got the big weight for a reason and sure to run well. MOTOWN LIL is yet to win beyond 1000m but not concerned as steps back to firmer (home) track here. Including  11 SELENIA off recent trial. Have never been with SULLIVAN BAY but can win.

Suggested: Not that keen in wide race but QUILISTA to avenge last start failure. $3.5

Race 3: 1-3-5-8

Restricted race for Inglis horses and conditions made to order for HARDHAM. Won third-up last campaign and should handle these. PABLO’S EXPRESS for example comes of a BM70 win and has to carry same weight as Group 1 placed top pick. TAIKOMOCHI probably leads and stable flying in Melbourne. WHEAL LEISURE has returned well and will appreciated the trip.

Suggested: Load-up HARDHAM. $1.7

Race 4: 8-9-1-15

COOL CHAP missed out in big finish (race won by HARDHAM ) last time here at same trip and ready to peak. Good race for OUR CENTURY to resume in and be competitive. GUARDINI was excellent 2nd-up, would be top pick if at 2000m. MAGIC CONSOL is holding form and having good preparation.

Suggested: COOL CHAP each-way. $8.5

Race 5: 1-6-2-3

First try at trip but CATCHY should absolutely eat-up the 1400m here. Tempo moderate here but should play into the favourite’s hand. BOOKER has slight weight turn around on it and also suited at the trip and think Dunn might chance his arm tactically here. Obviously not ignoring the unbeaten run of SHOALS and probably rolls forward with BOOKER. LIMESTONE was going to be competitive in Catchy’s win before falling.

Suggested: The class of CATCHY to win through again. $2.15

Race 6: 3-6-10-2

Impossible to ignore the brilliant return to beat adversity and rivals by ROYAL SYMPHONY at Flemington. Is a total star but again will need to be with the wide draw to overcome but tempo looks more true than the fillies division so can see slotting in with cover mid-field and too strong late. Respect KEMENTARI – clear main danger – who is obviously targeting the Guineas and has still much to show and deliver. LEVENDI is the wild card of a maiden and a BM64 but looks to have the talent to measure up. SUMMER PASSAGE did enough Flemington.

Suggested: Winners keep winning and that is what I expect ROYAL SYMPHONY to do. $2.35

Race 7: 1-2-3-8

HARTNELL was huge in the Makybe Diva creating a quick tempo and still there late despite Humidor’s impressive finish. You get what you get with BLACK HEART BART and sure to be there at the finish again (won this last year). GAILO CHOP is having a good campaign and looking for the 1800m now. BONNEVAL defied stable expectations first-up. SAMOVARE would not surprise.

Suggested: HARTNELL to bounce back. $2.20

Race 8: 3-4-1-10

SCALES OF JUSTICE was huge in the Bobbie Lewis. He’s a group 1 horse for sure and now around a corner is much better than running as erratically as he did up the Flemington straight. TOSEN STARDOM is flying, clear danger.  IT’S SOMEWHAT has trialled up well and proven this grade. THEANSWERMYFRIEND profiles well on the minimum.

Suggested: Very keen on SCALES OF JUSTICE. $3.5

Race 9: 2-1-10-12

ABILITY missed out on a group 1 start Friday and will needs things to go his way here but expect him to be powering home late and wide. He will have HELLBENT for company in that – he’s a top class performer on the ride to better races for Weir. OCEAN EMBERS is a good Caulfield performer whose map profiles similarly to the top two picks.  BADAJOZ best of those riding the speed.

Suggested:  Quinella 1&2

QUADDIE:

1st leg:    2-6

2nd leg:   1-2-3-8-9

3rd leg:    3-4-10

4th leg:     1-2-10

$90 = 100%
