Steel Frost makes it three-straight wins

Steel Frost has made it three wins from as many starts for Adelaide trainer Will Clarken with victory at Caulfield.

Clarken brought Steel Frost across from Adelaide to Melbourne for Sunday’s Mypunter.com Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield and the lightly raced five-year-old came from back in the field to add to his two recent wins at Morphettville.

“He is going fantastically,” Clarken said.

“He’s on the way up and I’m just proud that he came over, travelled well, took it all in his stride and got the job done.”

Steel Frost had three wins from eight starts in NSW for trainer Anne-Marie Ruttley before being sold to join the Clarken team in South Australia.

“A bloodstock agent tipped him to me and he was right,” Clarken said.

“He’s been a good horse to us so far.

“He bought it for some new owners who have never had horses before and some old stable clients that have been in it with me from the start.

“He’s a really nice horse.”

Steel Frost, ridden by Todd Pannell, was sent out the $3.40 favourite in the benchmark-78 race and defeated Imperator Augustus ($12) by a long neck with a nose to Tribal Wisdom ($18) third.
