Snowy Clark’s full Guineas day preview & best

CAULFIELD Saturday October 14

One of the great days of spring at Caulfield highlighted by group1 races but backed up by The Everest in Sydney and a beefed up undercard. What a feast for punters. Caulfield will be in the firming good range, irrigated through the week to top up limited rainfall. Rail stays true as it was here a fortnight back when it played perfectly. Expect same.

BEST BET: Race 7 #11 BONNEVAL

BEST VALUE: Race 9 #8 COMIN’ THROUGH

Race 1: 3-12-9-7

Follow the best money lead here with CORONEL. Showed enough (not brilliant) in jump out over stablemate here GABORONE but love following the money in these early season 2YO races, (even if you don’t get much of it on). QAFILA comes from right stable and trial/jump out good as the filly takes on the boys here. SACRED SWORD looks well enough experienced for debut and ENCRIPTION may just need some traffic luck but looks to have ability.

SUGGESTED: you’ve missed the price CORONEL but might still be best lead for punters.

Race 2: 3-8-2-15

Tough race for the 3YO fillies but not sacking JORDA off disappointing Flem run when found to have a poor recovery (they always find something like that for beaten favs). Going on 1st-up run. LUQYAA comes through same race and was good late. Will need to get into trucking lane from wide draw. SPLIT LIP comes through the other form reference Houtzen race MV where was excellent. DIVINE MESSENGER is on the rise – as are many of these.

SUGGESTED: Chase your JORDA money but not for much. Many hopes.

Race 3: 1-2-3-8

LEGLESS VEUVE should have won resuming here and goes in top pick. MISS GUNPOWDER was terrific first-up here last campaign and clear danger. Not ignoring the form of DESERT LASHES who was just beaten resuming. A little fitter perhaps and makes own luck without huge pressure here. PEDRENA was terrific last campaign and is respected fresh.

SUGGESTED: Keen on LEGLESS VEUVE.

Race 4: 8-3-5-1

Reckon GALLIC CHIEFTAN absolutely ready to peak 3rd run in for Weir this campaign, loved late look at MV and only try this trip was a rare Sydney winner for the great trainer. Weights and tactics favoured FOUNDRY in The Metrop but absolutely respecting way he and stablemate ALOFT are shaping. Of the visitors, WALL OF FIRE interests the most.

SUGGESTED:  Keen GALLIC CHIEFTAN can take the next step.

Race 5: 2-8-10-1

Think RELIGIFY gets an advantageous run to emulate his last first-up win over this trip in good company last campaign. Should possie up forward with ATTENTION who did too much work in the tougher G1 last time. OREGON’S DAY draws poorly again but will be best of the closers. While thinking FAST ‘N’ ROCKING profiles to get soft run to be place chance.

SUGGESTED: Happy to go with RELIGIFY here.

Race 6: 2-1-3-6

ALIZEE has been a revelation this campaign and is already a G1 1600m winner along lines of Global Glamour into this race. SHOALS has had the traditional preparation to get to the 1600m and doubt that any issue. BOOKER might role forward to control the small field but has weights and maybe distance against Shoals. LEATHER ‘N’ LACE had chance last week but positive that Weir backs her up.

SUGGESTED: Hard to tip against ALIZEE.

Race 7: 11-1-8-6

A race complicated by four visitors but I am not factoring them in as winning chances. Very uncomplicated by the winning run of BONNEVAL who can only still be on the rise off stable reports and HARTNELL had no excuses I thought last time unless you thought he was too conservatively ridden. SINGLE GAZE is ticking over nicely for a Caulfield Cup and can place. JON SNOW likely leader and still has upside.

SUGGESTED: BONNEVAL to win again.

Race 8: 11-6-7-16

Thought KEMENTARI was best run in the Guineas Prelude, or at least the horse who would bounce off that best for this grand final. Last 150m was excellent when he seemed to be uncomfortable before getting into gear. Gear change for ROYAL SYMPHONY was needed after indifferent run in the same race where all the action was upfront. Didn’t like seeing Dunn pull whip through to left hand but we know the talent the horse has. Respecting the filly CATCHY, certainly a chance, but reckon she’s too well found in market.

SUGGESTED:  A good Guineas, but think it’s for KEMENTARI.

Race 9: 8-9-4-1

I’ve gone a Waller trifecta here led by COMIN’ THROUGH who didn’t get the best magic from Moreira in the Epsom and gets much better run here. Certainly EGG TART is ready for this 1600m 2nd-up. Just couldn’t tip TOM MELBOURNE but Waller has him firing and Boss knows him well. TOSEN STARDOM next pic.

SUGGESTED: Back Waller, (OMEI SWORD also a hope) but tipping COMIN’ THROUGH.

Race 10: 11-9-5-4

SUPER CASH is a flyer fresh and seems to have come up better than ever. Clear top pick. SHEIDEL is an Oakleigh Plate winner here and was good in a pressure Moir. ILLUSTRIOUS LAD might be the overs and is under-rated. Like the fresh profile of FIRST AMONG EQUALS especially on debut here for Weir.

SUGGESTED: Very keen SUPER CASH

QUADDIE:
1-11

6-7-11-14-16

1-4-8-9-11

4-5-6-9-11

$125 for 50%
