Aloisia has given young trainer Aaron Purcell his first Group One winner with his debut runner at racing’s elite level.

The filly, on a VRC Oaks path, upstaged her more fancied rivals in the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on Saturday.

Sitting midfield on the fence, jockey Luke Nolen never left the rail on the three-year-old which went on to beat Shoals and Sydney filly Alizee.
