SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER

TRACK:   GOOD 3 (4.91)                       RAIL:    +6M

BEST BET:        Race 1             No.12   DON’T GIVE A DAMN

NEXT BET:       Race 2             No.7     LEGEND OF CONDOR

Race 1

12 – 5 – 3 – 6

12 Don’t Give A Damn will need luck from the bad gate but if he does he will win the first and get the punters off to a good start. He hasn’t raced since blowing his rivals away three weeks ago. 5 Zamex raced in a better quality race first up when well beaten but he will be thereabouts this weekend in the grade from a good barrier.

BET:     Win bet 12 DON’T GIVE A DAMN

Race 2

7 – 12 – 10 – 1

7 legend Of Condor is on debut and will take some catching here. Trained by the inform Gerald Ryan this 2yo colt has good natural speed and can run time and when given a little shake up in the trial he found something. 12 Rebukes is another on debut and from a big favour for this filly is the soft draw. I liked the way she kept finding the line.

BET:     Good crack each way 7 LEGEND OF CONDOR

Race 3

1 – 3 – 7 – 4

1 Regimen has been racing well and although jumping to Saturday racing this is really only a midweek event on paper. There doesn’t look a lot of speed so she should be able to cruise across and settle in front or somewhere on-pace. 3 Aonair was good winning first up then acquitted herself well in a tougher race last start. The 4.kg pull in weights will help her greatly.

BET:     Small win bets   1 REGIMEN

3 AONAIR

Race 4

8 – 11 – 6 – 7

8 Pumpkin Pie has been racing well and had a good blow out a fortnight ago for this race when beaten 3.8 lengths behind In Her Time, English, Clearly Innocent and company. From a soft draw and up to 1400m and far less of quality opposition surely she proves hard to hold out. 11 Suncraze has been absolutely flying and having only started once this course and distance it resulted in a three lengths dominant win.

BET:     Each way bet 8 PUMPKIN PIE

Race 5

11 – 8 – 10 – 6

11 Invincibella is the one to beat coming off a very win first up three weeks back when savaging the line. With only 53.5kg on her back she looks the one to beat again but I think at the current price of $2.4 on offer she is under the odds. I think the two biggest threats to her are stablemates in 10 Jaminzah who has proven he is a winner and 8 Oklahoma Girl who was outstanding first up and has since trialled well.

BET:     Win bet 11 INVINCIBELLA

Race 6

4 – 2 – 1 – 6

4 Who Shot Thebarman should be cherry ripe following three runs this preparation and I think has been going well building towards this race and then the Melbourne spring. A little tricky gate but he should able to find a spot somewhere about fifth and will give them a huge shake. 2 Big Duke has drawn soft and only needs to repeat his last start second here in the Metropolitan and he will be in the finish.

BET:     Backing 4 WHO SHOT THEBARMAN

Race 7

1 – 12 – 3 – 10

12 In Her Time does look hard to beat going simply off her last start victory in the Premiere Stakes when defeating several contenders in the $10 million Everest. From the gate she will need a touch of luck but she will still in the money somewhere. 1 Takedown is a big boy and I think has needed both runs back this time in and looks very good value here. He will relish a dog fight and I’m sure his class will take him a long way.

BET:     Each way bet 1 TAKEDOWN

Race 8

1 – 3 – 9 – 2

I’ve been with the grey flash 1 Chautauqua all the way through and I’m not jumping off now. Its grand final day and I’m sure the Hawkes team will have ready to run his best race and that’s not saying he hasn’t run well. He just needs the fire out of the track and he will be charging hard late. 3 Redzel is flying and will make his own and I’m sure will be thereabouts. The last 50m will be his worry even though he’s won two from four at the 1200m I believe his best trip is the 1100m. 9 English will need luck from the bad gate but has to be respected after her terrific effort last start. 2 Vega Magic rounds out my top four. Good luck to all.

BET:     Backing 1 CHAUTAUQUA

Race 9

1 – 4 – 5 – 7

You don’t have to be Albert Einstein to work out 1 happy Clapper is the one to beat having won the Tramway first up before a slashing second to Winx and then a last start dominant win the Epsom handicap. He meets those who finished behind him last start better at the weights. He is low flying and from gate one will take plenty of beating with the only worry being the 2000m which he is yet to win at. 4 Star Exhibit was solid enough last start vat Moonee valley and runs a strong 2000m which is in his favour. The others for the exotics if you are playing around the favourite are 5, 6, 7 & 8.

BET:     Backing 1 HAPPY CLAPPER

Race 10

7 – 3 – 6 – 11

Not an easy assignment to finish the day but I’ve settled on 7 Realise Potential who is racing in terrific heart at present recording two seconds, a third and win from his past four runs. He can carry weight as he has shown and with a good tempo expected here he should be able to stalk and then pounce. 3 Latin Boy was super winning last start at Warwick Farm and looms as a player here but will need luck from a wide barrier. 6 Ozark did enough first up when fourth to suggest he is back in good order and looks well placed in this type of race.

BET:     Each way bet 7 REALISE POTENTIAL
