Super Cash prevails first-up at Caulfield

Trainer Andrew Noblet has got the balancing act right when Super Cash was successful first-up at Caulfield.

Noblet had the mare primed to run first-up in the Group One Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 29 but had to switch his sights to Saturday’s Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield after Super Cash failed to gain a start.

Ridden by Katelyn Mallyon, Super Cash ($5) scored by a short-head over Illustrious Lad ($11) on Saturday with Rock Magic ($5.50) a half-neck away in third.

“She was flying heading into the Moir but she missed that run so we had to balance it right by not doing too much and not doing enough,” Noblet said.

“We just got it right today.

“She goes very well fresh and when the barrier draw came out and she had gate two and the way she was during the week I was pretty confident.”

Super Cash holds nominations for the Group One Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 27 as well as the Darley Classic at Flemington on November 11.

Noblet said whether the mare headed to those races depended on how she recovered from Saturday’s win.

“She feels the ground but the track was perfect today and if she comes through it well we’ll make a plan from there,” he said.
