4 Poetic Charmer was very good first up when hitting the line behind French Tune at Rosehill over 1100m. The extra trip here will help and that run will have brought his fitness levels on. Only a small field but a little tricky gate. 1 Epic Rant was most disappointing first up at Warwick Farm when a short priced favourite so expect him to bounce back here. 6 Unforgotten is first up off a good trial and although 1250m is short of her best look for her charging hard late.

For me it looks a clear two horse race between 1 Highly Influential and the favourite 7 Epidemic. Highly Influential trialled twice a year ago but never made it to the track but has looked every bit as good as the raps on him in two recent trials at Randwick. With the likely leader 8 Madonnica drawn outside of him it should enable Blake Shinn to get pushed across into a good trailing spot. 7 Epidemic has raced twice in two quality races and resumes here off a very impressive trial when cruised to the line to win with authority.

3 I Am Serious has been costly to punters starting clear favourite at her two starts since joining the Chris Waller stable. She steps to 1550m and looks the one to beat but she is short again so tread carefully. Blake Shinn goes on board and if he can get her out of the gates quickly that may be the secret to getting the job done. The stablemate 4 Shield Wall is on the quick back up having run second last Saturday at Kembla. Some horses handle it and if she does I think she is the value especially from the inside barrier.

1 Stonebrook has led and kept going at both runs this time in and nothing different today. He will jump and run and if he sees the 1550m out he should get the job done again today. 2 Kilmacurragh has raced in better races and should get the tag on the favourite here and the 3.5kg pull in the weights gives him some hope of running down. 3 Calypso Bay should be cherry ripe today following two runs back and is drawn to get s oft run.

8 Cedarwood won on at his second start at Kembla before two very good efforts when second at Wyong and then here at Canterbury. From a good barrier he should be able to stalk the leading few and hopefully get room to wind up in the run home. 7 Star Of Africa could not have done anymore winning at Warwick farm on debut and showcasing his ability. He will need luck from the outside barrier but could be the value in the race. Other chances in an open race outside of Cedarwood are 1 Gitan, 4 The Cheetah, Eminent Duke, 9 Cordoned and 10 Arrondissement.

Until the scratching of Coys I was all over 9 Baysa as the best bet of the day was I expected a genuine tempo but I now think 3 Lead Choreographer could get a soft run up front. 9 Baysa was outstanding first up when beaten a lip at Rosehill and with a three week break to get over that run he will be cherry ripe. The stablemate 3 Lead Choreographer has come back in good order winning first up and then a solid second to Black On Gold. He will take beating now.

Race 7

1 – 2 – 10 – 3

 

1 Osborne Bulls is low flying having won three straight albeit in provincial grade but he stepped up last start when second to Invincibella and that galloper has since gone onto win again in better grade. He goes up three kilos here but meets an easier grade and has drawn perfect. 2 In Times Of War is consistent but is fast building the tag of being the bridesmaid having run second eight times from her ten starts. That aid the other two have been wins. From barrier two she should get the chance to stalk the leaders and then pounce making her a player. 10 Slow Burn was heavily backed first up and was very good winning here. Things won’t be as easy today with more depth and the outside gate of 11 to contend with but she must be respected.

Race 8

6 – 12 – 15 – 14

 

6 Dixie Chick looks to have found a race with good speed that should enable her to charge hard late. Her two trials this time around have been solid without and pressure being applied. Although 1100m may be a fraction short of what is needed she will be coming hard late. 12 Artemis Rose comes back to Sydney and back in grade after finishing down the track at Caulfield. She has trialled well back in Sydney and has drawn the coveted barrier one so expect her to be amongst the spoils. 15 best Guess would love some rain but that isn’t coming but that said he was good first up here when second to White Moss. That form may just be good enough for this race.
