With Destiny’s Kiss taking a well-deserved rest after his latest stakes win at Randwick, trainer Joe Pride will look to some of his lesser performed stablemates to step up.
The nine-year-old Destiny’s Kiss signed off a 10-race campaign in style on Saturday in the Listed City Tattersalls Club Cup and will have a short break before coming back for the summer.
Pride has four runners lining up on his home track on Wednesday when four-year-olds Sikhing Glory and So Spirited make their metropolitan debuts at Warwick Farm.
Sikhing Glory will attempt to bring his provincial form to town in a Benchmark 70 Handicap (1000m) alongside another stablemate, Realise Potential.
Sikhing Glory started this preparation in August and followed up a second at Hawkesbury (1000m) with back-to-back wins over the same distance at Kembla Grange and Gosford.
“His last couple of wins have been pretty good. The last start was a bit of a peak effort,” Pride said.
“He’s starting to find form as a four-year-old so so he’s coming to town at about the right time of his career.”
Sikhing Glory has raced seven times since his debut last September and Pride believes that patience will now be rewarded before he heads for another spell.
“He’s just taken to mature and settle down a little bit and now we’re seeing the benefits now of being pretty patient with him,” Pride said.
Sikhing Glory ($9.50) and Realise Potential ($9) were on the third line of betting in the TAB market on Wednesday behind Godolphin’s Marble ($1.80).
Realise Potential has a busy week in store with Pride expecting the five-year-old gelding to back up in a Benchmark 75 Handicap (1100m) when night racing resumes at Canterbury on Friday.
“He’s a tough gelding. He’s happy being in work,” Pride said.
So Spirited was also nominated for Friday but Pride will limit him to a Benchmark 74 Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm.
He will be having his fourth run this campaign and earns a city debut after a win and two placings from starts at Gosford, Canberra and Wyong.
Pride also saddles up O’Reilly Cyrus in a Benchmark 82 Handicap (1200m) with the mare coming off two placings on her home track.
“She is racing consistently and we’re expecting her to keep that up,” Pride said.
