TRACK:                        HEAVY 8   (5.84)                     RAIL:    +6M

BEST BET:        Race 2             No.1     SAVATIANO

NEXT BEST:      Race 3             No.5     TIKI BAR

Race 1

7 – 2 – 9 – 5

7 SANGITA I think only needs luck from the tricky gate and I think she can kick the punters off on the right foot. Her both trials in recent weeks have been solid and being by Sebring you’d think she will get through the wet ground. 2 Elessedil did enough at her only public outing to say she’s got ability. 9 Vivi Valentina could be the value who I thought trialled well when showing she has a bit of race sense about her.

Race 2

1 – 4 – 3 – 2

Very keen here on 1 SAVATIANO was able to win a fortnight ago at Warwick Farm being her maiden at her fourth outing. As a 2yo she ran second behind Invader on a soft track giving me confidence she will get through the ground. 4 Star Sensation was good first up when third to Za Zi Ba in a race dominated by the first couple around the bend. The small field should give her the chance to wind up.

Race 3

5 – 1 – 4 – 8

5 TIKI BAR has only raced once and turned in a solid effort when second here back in May behind the speedy Lipizzan. That effort was on a soft track giving me the belief she will handle it here. Her two trials back in this time have been very good and from gate one I imagine Tye Angland will try and hold a good position. 1 Dinnigan has also only raced once that was back in December last year when third at Wyong in the Magic Millions Classic. She trialled twice in May but was sent back to the paddock. Her trial ten days ago was solid and will be the one the others have to run down.

Race 4

2 – 4 – 5 – 1

BAD RACE- I will be drinking CC and Dry at the bar.

2 GRESHAM was ordinary last start when beaten as a $1.24 favourite at Kembla and now turns up favourite in the city. That said there isn’t much to turn to and I imagine with Shinn on they may ride him with a bit more aggression. 4 Tangmere the stablemate has only raced once when well beaten but after trialling well heading into that debut run he got back and when he wanted to get going was held up so a little forgive. He can improve sharply here. But as I said I’ll be at the bar come and say hello.

Race 5

3 – 5 – 4 – 6

3 MEDAILLE picks herself here being a winner of three from 13 with one of those a city victory. Her first up run was only fair even allowing for a few little things that went against her but this is a considerable drop in the quality of opposition. The wet track is the big concern but she may be just too classy for them. 5 Makeadane is the one who will pounce if Medaille doesn’t handle the ground. Makeadane is off a three week break after a solid second at Warwick Farm behind Gauguin.

Race 6

7 – 5 – 4 – 1

7 Revenire is favourite and the one to beat but gee he seems short odds. He has won two from three career starts albeit the wins have come at Gosford and Ipswich both a long way from Canterbury. He will carry no weight and going off his two recent barrier trial victories he may well have come back a horse that has taken that next step. I think % Fifteen Sunflowers is the blow out at odds coming off a very good effort at Randwick albeit running 11th she was only beaten 2.7 lengths. The little worry is she hasn’t won past 1000m but has run a place three times of the six attempts at the 1100m.

Race 7

4 – 9 – 15 – 12

4 LADY JIVAGO looks the value runner on the card to me coming off a cracking run here nine days ago behind Osborne Bulls. Had very little luck from the gate yet attacked the line hard to be beaten less than a length. From a good gate and with the claim for Jean Van Overmeire she is sure to give you a great sight. 9 Hay Now is first up from a five month spell and for the Matthew Dunn stable having previously been in Canberra with Matthew Dale. She is a handy type having won four times and run five seconds from only 10 career starts. From a good gate she must be kept very safe. The wet track won’t pose any problems for her.

Race 8

7 – 8 – 3 – 2

Not an exciting race to finish the night and I am certainly hoping at this stage of the night I am well in front. I’ve settled on 7 BAYSA who was disappointing last start over this track and distance after looming up and looking as though he didn’t run the trip. I think with that run under his belt and a soft barrier and more particularly the heavy track will see him give a terrific sight. He is third up from a spell so he should be ready to rock. 8 La Chatte has been impressive getting the job done at her past two albeit at Kembla and Wyong. The inside draw should enable her to settle handy and I doubt the wet track will hinder her chances.
