Race 1

7 – 1 – 8 – 2

7 Sangita had trialled very well leading into her debut run and after being heavily disappointed when third at Canterbury. That was on a heavy surface so I am willing to forget that and go my opinion from the trials. She looks smart and will be hard to toss. The Godolphin pair at the top trialled against each other and both look to have good ability.  Secret Lady has won both her trials and will have a weight advantage over the rivals and from a good gate she should be able to make her own luck.

Race 2

2 – 5 – 3 – 7

2 Unforgotten is the one to beat as you are probably aware I have a huge opinion of her and could be a group filly come the autumn. She jumps in trip here which is likely to suit but she also goes up 4 ½ kg in weight and that just concerns me. Popular returned this preparation is good fashion at Warwick Farm and from gate one and a 3kg pull in the weights she is sure to give the favourite a run for her money.

Race 3

6 – 3 – 1 – 2

6 Lycurgus comes to Sydney with solid Melbourne form and is taking on no stars of the turf here. He should get a soft run from the gate and with a pull in the weights over his dangers and the ability to race handy in a race lacking tempo he looks the one to beat for me. Karavali was impressive a fortnight ago and is the current favourite so she warrants plenty of respect.

Race 4

6 – 4 – 3 – 1

6 Bon Amis finds a very weak city race and he only needs to run up to his last start win at Newcastle and he should account for this lot. The son of Bon Hoffa is three from three and should be able to keep the undefeated run going. Magicaz went terrific first up at Warwick Farm when coming from well back to run third and a repeat would her in the numbers again. Blowing Kisses comes through the same race as Magicaz and like her made up good ground in the run home.

Race 5

6 – 1 – 7 – 5

No disrespect but what an ordinary field for a city Saturday race especially following the scratching of I Am Serious. With no conviction I am tipping 6 Intueri who was strong winning two starts ago before backing that up with a solid effort at Canterbury behind Cellarman. He can settle handy and with no speed on paper that should aid his chances. Mortar Platoon has top weight because he has shown more ability than the others but he isn’t that easy to catch but against this lot he must be given serious thought. Actually anything can win this race.

Race 6

2 – 13 – 9 – 8

2 Schedule is back on track with a good effort at Randwick a month ago when running second behind the smart Don’t Give A Damn. From a good gate and a fair tempo expected on paper he should get his opportunity to get back into the winners circle. Highway Sixtysix looks a handy filly with a good future going off her good effort in town two runs ago before an easy win at wagga. The wide gate looks the obvious worry here. Roseito and Isla Tristana are both coming off good wins and look capable of showing up here.

Race 7

4 – 6 – 5 – 9

The betting suggest that Stonebrook is a moral but with Just Dreaming also engaged in the race I expect a solid tempo up front making things a little trickier. I am still with 4 Stonebrook as he should be able to work across and either lead or sit handy. He looks a highly promising horse but I do say unders at the even money mark. Dagny will be the one stalking the leading couple and must be considered a serious player coming off a solid third last start at Randwick.

Race 8

9 – 3 – 8 – 1

9 Zonk was disappointing last start when beaten at Warwick Farm and although she jumps in grade here she drops 8 ½ kgs and is capable of taking the race by the horns and skipping through to the front and proving hard to run down. She’s a pretty handy mare and with no weight she looks the best of the day. The only danger to my eye is In Times Of War and she doesn’t exactly attack the line having run second nine times. She is a smart mare so I’m no underestimating her but the pull in the weights in too much I think.

Race 9

6 – 1 – 9 – 3

If you can block out that 6 Redouble was beaten 23 lengths last start and out it was solely down to pulling up with cardiac arrhythmia and go on his recent barrier trial or previous first up run for Bjorn Baker he looks hard to beat. He has drawn perfect and should lob just in behind the speed. King Darci will roll forward and really only has to run up to his latest effort when third at Randwick to be in the mix again. Darts Away looks the huge value here for me with a light weight and a handy turn of speed when held up for one run.
