WYONG

WEDNESDAY 13 DECEMBER

TRACK:                        GOOD 4                       RAIL:    +3m

BEST BET:        Race 1             No.1    MONTREAL

NEXT BEST:     Race 4             No.2    CHOICE HARVEST

Race 1

1 – 2 – 3 – 4

MONTREAL is first up for over a year but has shown he’s back in good order with a recent barrier trial victory. On debut he carried 4kg more than second placegetter Improvement who then on to win four city races at her next four starts. She has since won another race at Randwick showing Montreal must be a pretty handy galloper. I’m expecting Adam Hyeronimus to take no prisoners and bounce straight to the front. He’s Blessed was good first up at Kembla and is sure to strip fitter here so picks himself as second elect just in front of Yeas And Nays who is likely to camp on the back of Montreal.

Race 2

5 – 6 – 1 – 3

SEINE NET looks a monty and is a good things price as she is a promising staying filly with plenty of upside. The jump to 2100m looks as though it will suit her and from a good barrier she should settle handy to the front and prove too good. Merican looks the only possible danger as she comes here off a good effort at Goulburn last start behind Chain Of Fools who was able to win a city race at its next start.

Race 3

3 – 4 – 2 – 5

Only five runners but I think the trickiest race of the afternoon at Wyong. I’ve plumed for 3 ENLIGHTENED BOY but without much confidence as he does turn up here with four career runs under his belt and he is yet to finish in the placings. He should get a nice run and I thought he did enough last start when not far away here to say he’ll run well. Ice Emperor comes through the same race and is sure to appreciate the extra distance here. Teahupo’o and Royal Patriot are certainly capable of winning in this tricky race.

Race 4

2 – 4 – 1 – 3

Looks a match race between CHOICE HARVEST and Thrilled and it will likely be whoever gets the best run will get the chocolates. Choice Harvest will likely settle on-pace and I think will appreciate the easier tempo of the 1350m trip rather than that of the shorter dashes. Thrilled was ridden too negative last time out at Goulburn but he made up good ground in the run to the line and will really appreciate today’s trip. He’s finished second four times so his time is coming.

Race 5

6 – 2 – 1 – 4

Bjorn Baker holds the key with Spencer who is having his first start since joining the stable having been formerly with the Edward and Anthony Cummings yard and the debutante Zabeel’s Choice a 3yo by Snitzel. ZABEEL’S CHOICE looks to have thrown to her dad as he looks to have good natural early speed and he could easily jump and lead here without surprising. If she does she is sure to take some running down. Spencer is a lovely type and has run a couple of fair races that would have him figuring here. His recent trials have been a positive sign since joining Bjorn’s stable and from a good gate gets his chance to win a race. The Patrician goes ok and is certainly capable of winning this even race. The step back in distance looks ideal but he’ll need a touch of luck or a good Josh Parr ride with 59kg.

Race 6

3 – 6 – 2 – 1

Thinking that FRANCESCO looks the value here being first up for just over 100 days but has been readied for this assignment with three barrier trials. The trials have been solid and although he usually takes a few runs to hit his straps I am hoping the trials have him primed. He is likely to get back but there looks a bit of pressure so I am banking on him charging late. I have nothing between Nothing Box who is also first up but races well fresh and has the class while Invincible George comes off a strong win at Hawkesbury and is sure to play a major role again. The other hope in my eyes is Elemenohpee who will likely race on-pace and is sure to appreciate the tempo of this 1350m event rather than last start at Canterbury over 1100m.

Race 7

2 – 4 – 6 – 3

There look three main winning chances to my eye starting with the favourite CAJETAN who at first look I thought looked a moral. He will be rolling forward looking for the top but there is certainly a bit of speed drawn underneath him. His last start effort was very good behind the highly touted Unforgotten at Rosehill in Saturday grade. Maddison Avenue was very tough when raced handy and finished second to Baysa when the speed was pretty solid throughout while Graciousness looks to have hit her straps with a terrific win last time out albeit in easier grade at Kembla. She is on an upward spiral which is to her advantage.
