Leading jockey Kerrin McEvoy has undergone surgery on a hand injury but there is no time-frame for his return.

McEvoy broke a bone in his hand in a pre-race mishap at Randwick on Saturday when he was taking Sugar Bella to the barriers.

Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth said the operation had gone well.

McEvoy will miss the rich Magic Millions race day on January 13 but hopefully be back for Redzel’s return.

He won the $10 million Everest on Redzel who backed up that win with victory in the Group One Darley Classic at Flemington last month.

The sprinter is scheduled to return in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington on February 17.
