Godolphin looking for assistant trainer

Godolphin is looking for a new assistant trainer in Melbourne with David Charles to return to an administrative role in the organisation.

Charles has been managing Carbine Lodge at Flemington for more than three years but has previously expressed his desire to stand down from the stable operation.

“Charles informed Godolphin of his longer-term intentions to return to an administrative role at the end of 2017,” a Godolphin statement said.

“The decision is being made public to commence the recruitment process for a new Assistant Trainer.”

James Cummings, who is based in Sydney, took over from John O’Shea as head trainer in Australia for Sheikh Mohammed’s operation at the beginning of the season.

O’Shea, who spent three years with Godolphin, has re-established himself as a public trainer at Randwick.
