Race 7             No.4     SIREN’S FURY

Race 1

6 – 3 – 5 – 1

AQUA D’IVINA has raced three times and improved at each outing that resulted in a dominant win last start. She has a turn of speed and I am hoping if she can stalk the leaders she can pounce. The favourite Scream Park is obviously a big threat with him looking for three wins on the trot. He will be on-pace and be the hardest to get past. Just got a feeling his past two wins have been slightly flattening with everything falling his way. Island Missile fought on well first up when beaten less than a length so is sure to strip fitter here. Barbeque was good winning first up at Wyong against the older horses and the third horse came out and won at Canterbury last night.

Race 2

1 – 2 – 10 – 3

CANYONERO was very good on debut behind the highly touted Irish Bet and should be better suited here at the 200m longer journey of 1200m. Sokudo never stopped coming last start when wide throughout at Warwick Farm. That was off a three month break so expect to see him fitter again here. Futooh comes through the same race as Sokudo and after settling rearward came wide and kept finding the line. Drawn awkwardly but if she gets genuine speeds expect to see her coming hard.

Race 3

2 – 1 – 5 – 3

Looks the trickiest race of the afternoon with many chances. I’ve settled on The Pharoah who is having his second start since joining the Richard Litt stable and gets the addition of blinkers to help him and I’m hoping he will go straight to the front and keep going. His third up form is solid so he should give a good sight. Fortensky has trialled nicely leading in here without much pressure and does have the class edge over his rivals but it’s just whether 1200m is a fraction too short. Gretna is another that has trialled very nicely and should camp on the back of The Pharoah with its question mark being can she race at her best on firm ground as her best is on wet tracks. Viceroy and Tswalu are both very much in the mix.

Race 4

2 – 7 – 9 – 5

AWESOME PLUCK trialled very well and subsequently was heavily backed first up when going to keen in the race and finishing behind Savatiano and Calculated. That said he was more really outclassed and will appreciate the drop back to a TAB Highway. It should be a welcome back to Australia winner for Hugh Bowman. Runway Ready has been very good at both runs this preparation and from barrier two and trained by the king of the highways Matty Dunn it makes him a major player. Gripped showed plenty of fight last start in winning and with a light weight here he is sure to give the others something to rundown.

Race 5

3 – 7 – 2 – 4

Originally I thought CELLARMAN was a real good and although he is still my top pick I do think there are now three genuine winning chances. Cellarman is in career best form and form barrier one should get a nice soft run in behind them and be the one to beat. Caerless Choice comes through the same race and gets a senior rider although I’m not knocking the kid who rode him last start. But talking about last start he took off early trying to switch things up giving Cellarman the cold sit yet he fought on to only get beat a length and a half. Medaille was ok first up when coming from well back behind Noire and from a good gate today she should be able to settle a little closer and be amongst the spoils.

Race 6

6 – 2 – 1 – 10

Guard Of Honour did a very good job winning the feature sprint first up at Muswellbrook maintaining his very good fresh record of three wins and a placing from five goes. He had trialled very good leading into race giving him a good grounding.  DON’T TEASE ME will jump and run and with only 51kg on his back is sure to take plenty of running down. Last start when grabbed late his effort was terrific as he half stumbled coming out of the gates and that was off a month’s break. Fickle Folly is a major player especially if she gets a touch of luck early from the awkward barrier. The speed should be solid so she could easily come across and stalk the leaders and if that happens look out.

Race 7

4 – 3 – 5 – 2

SIREN’S FURY isn’t easy to catch but looks well placed here with good tempo expected and I like the fact she is coming off a three week freshen up which will hopefully give her the needed sprint in her legs. Overstep wasn’t suited dropping back in distance last start so the step back up and drawing barrier one gives her a super chance. Queen Misty just needs a touch of luck early from the outside gate she will be in the spoils. Her three runs this time in have all been terrific and she is building towards a win. Live The Dream will lead and roll along and should give a big sight from the front. Wahng Wah will be rearward but is sure to be charging hard in the home straight.

Race 8

5 – 8 – 1 – 4

NOIRE is low flying and rocks up here looking for her fourth straight win and to my eye has only one real threat that could stop here Lanciato. Noire will likely stalk the leaders and then charge at them. Last start she ran down Pecans who subsequently won the group 3 Belle Of The Turf at Gosford. Lanciato was very good first up behind Drachenfels over six furlongs and gets a few things in his favour today. He steps to 1400m that is his pet distance and he is two from two second up.

Race 9

11 – 4 – 3 – 2

Tricky race to finish the day so I’ve decided to give MALAISE another chance after a disappointing run second up when fifth to Uptown Lad. I’m banking on that he was a little flat after a cracking first up run when lumping 62kg and running bravely for second. Pipeline was a little disappointing as well last start albeit things didn’t go his way and he ended up on the wrong part of the track. If he can offset the bad gate early he can get into the spoils. Level Eight comes through the Uptown Lad race and has drawn perfectly so has to be considered. Samadoubt will lead and again give them something to rundown.
