What the jockeys said Sky High Stakes

Glyn Schofield (Auvray): “At one stage I was behind Lasqueti Spirit. She took off mid race and put a bit more speed into it. It allowed me to bide my time. He peeled around them, hit the front halfway down the straight and was too strong.”

Blake Shinn (Who Shot Thebarman): “He ran a good race he’s just looking for a bit further as he’s getting a bit older. Once he does get up in trip he’ll come right into his own.”

Brenton Avdulla (Libran):
“He jumped well, travelled comfortable, just found one better.”

Tye Angland (Mackintosh): “Really good run, we just got back a little bit further than I wanted to but it was good to see him finish off like that.”

Jay Ford (Lasqueti Spirit): “It was better today, she was able to take up a spot. When the speed backed off she actually got tugging a bit so I let her stride round. She dropped off the pack late but at least she was competitive today. Hopefully with a bit more fitness and a step up in trip she can go better again next start.”

Tim Clark (Stampede): “I thought he ran better today than his previous start, I still feel the horse has a bit of improvement fitness wise.”

Jess Taylor (More Energy): “Did a bit too much work early and failed to finish off.”

Blaike McDougall (Get On The Grange): “She did well on the quick back up, it’s her second back up this preparation. Think he’s just screaming out for a bit more ground.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Salsamor): “He handled himself well against the older horses. He got back in the run but the blinkers have helped him. He moved into it nicely cutting the corner. He’ll improve with the run and hopefully he can make the Derby field at Randwick.”
