Race 1
Tough start to the card, with the maiden horse battling it out over 1625m. A fit horse is required here, with the uphill 1625m testing the stamina, and I’m leaning toward 12 VAISHALI. She’s a 5 start maiden, but has ran 2nd over 1600m previous, and drops back from a 2100m at Wyong for this. She seems to race best off the speed, so she can settle midfield with cover here and get home over the top late. 13 VELITES is a horse I thought would be suited over a mile, but at provincial level, won’t totally discount him as a place hope here.

Race 2
Thought 2 AMERICAN FRONTIER would role to the front, with 4 EVOLO going forward and 1 SWEET ADALINE tucked in behind, and that’s the race. Happy to stick with 4 EVOLO here, off a last start win. Although he goes from maiden to class 2 grade, he won like a horse that would relish a step up to the mile and has the ability to win again.

Race 3
1 RED PHANTOM Looks extremely well placed here to win again stepping up to 2000m for the first time. He was very strong through the line in winning last time at 1800m, and the extra trip shouldn’t pose an issue. 9 SHEEZINAJAM is a locally trained filly, who will race on speed and give sight at big odds.

Race 4
9 ADORADIVA started favorite on debut, and arguably could have won the race. She showed good speed to lead, and the inside section of the track may not have been the place to be. She fought hard all the way to wire, just getting touched off late. The winner has gone on to race well at stakes level, so the form looks good for her to go one better here. The Tony Gollan trained 6 ROYAL HALE ran well in a strong race last time, and can improve second up here. 3 MISHANI RULER should enjoy a nice run and get run well here also.

1 UNLIKELY STORY has found a nice race to break his maiden status here. He was a touch slow away, settling rearward before charging late at IPSWICH first up. He will take great benefit from that, has drawn well and looks the winner. 5 BLUEBROOK brings decent Victorian form here, but has drawn awkward in Gate 12.

(**I have share in 4 KAY KAY BOY) French import 4 KAY KAY BOY comes here for Ben Currie second up, after a nice enough maiden win first up over 1200m. He is better suited over further, but this looks a nice enough race to continue through his grades. He was certainly bought here to compete in better races, but over 2000m, that’s the only niggle in taking the short price. There doesn’t look to be a heap of speed engaged here, so wouldn’t be surprised to see him on speed and looks hardest to beat. There looks to be 2 other winning hopes in the race, 7 AUERBACH & 2 JETS CRACKER, they both go in the QD.

Keen on classy 3YO filly 2 BASARA. She has drawn to be right on speed here and the 2kg claim for Emma Ljung gets her in with only 56kg. She chased a very nice horse last time, and expect her to be simply too fast here.

Race 8
8 CHAMALU looks well placed here to kick off with a win this campaign. He is 2 from 2 first up, and trialed up well running third beaten 3L to Saturdays Group 2 runner up MOST IMPORTANT. He will get the perfect run from the gate, and looks a bit better than his rivals.
