Snowy Clark’s Day 2 preview & best The Bool

WARRNAMBOOL – Galleywood/Wangoom Day 2

BEST BETS: BIG BAD BAZ R3 #3

BEST VALUE: MOSS ‘N’ DALE R8 #6

Race 1: 3-1-5-8

Is it Matt Cumani to repel the Weir charge here with OWN SWEET WAY. The evidence is compelling enough as can be for OWN SWEET WAY with a 2nd behind subsequent t G1 winner HIYAAM before a break. But have to be wary of Weir with DONNDUBHAN who resumes in blinkers off one run (was $12) but good late Terang, TRULY HIGH placed all 5 but beaten twice at odds on and CHAMPAGNE FRIDAY who is fit and rolls forward.

SUGGESTED: Form says OWN SWEET WAY –  Bool says Weir??

Race 2: 10-7-3-4

What – no Weir runner. What to do. Going TATA DA GOOSE who has had the run and didn’t have best of luck Werribee when well tried, suited to 1700m now, where TWO BILLS resumes at the trip for Williams and obviously been prepped up to go. LORD FLYNN was sound at Terang and MONTEEGAR has the grounding.

SUGGESTED: Leaning TATA DA GOOSE
Race 3: 3-2-4-5

Normal service to be resumed here by Weir with BIG BAD BAZ with odds to match its eye catcher at Bendigo. Surprised if doesn’t win at the very short odds. BIANCO NUOVO had excuses last time and should roll forward now. Weir’s #2 COUNT ZERO is progressing well but don’t think matches the favourite here. FANCIFUL TOFF did enough on debut Terang and better ground and trip will suit.

SUGGESTED: BIG BAD BAZ to win.

Race 4: 8-6-7-3

Good chase. Intrigued by BOLD BANDIT, one start Ireland 2nd 4800m chase then to Hamilton here in flat high weight (2200m) and impressed. Has since had a trial with HALE SORIANO and went very well, as did the latter. Between them I think. KING KAMADA is tough and TROUBLE BOUND comes via the Von Doussa and strong race Pakenham (Monarch Chimes). THE DOMINATOR has been well schooled.

SUGGESTED: BOLD BANDIT to win, save the quinella with HALE SORIANO.

Race 5: 2-3-10-6

Gear changes the key here with blinkers going on 3 of the top 4 picks for first time but leaning CREATIVE HARMONY over GOLDEN SONG (Weir), VON MYSTIC (Purcell local) and then Weir’s other runner SET WITH JEWELS who was good at Ararat resuming 1300m.

SUGGESTED: CREATIVE HARMONY but even contest.

Race 6: 1-6-3-4

ANCIENT KING finally gets back to a hurdle after big grounding for this on the flat with numerous hurdles trials in between. A 5-time hurdle winner (including Grand National), looks targeted for this, won maiden hurdle here last year. DANE HUSSLER is 2/3 over the hurdles and had solid grounding here at Oakbank over 3600m flat last time. TWO HATS fell late at Pakenham when looking the winner but you have to jump them! HONEY STEEL’S GOLD did that at Pakenham.

SUGGESTED: Backing Weir, ANCIENT KING for the beer.

Race 7: 5-14-8-3

MANHATTAN ARCH is racing well and stable would have targeted this, and back from 1600m to 1400m a positive for me. HONEY ESPIRT has ability, can place, makes own luck and winner only start here.. WOULDA THOUGHT SO Been good two runs in and can figure again. SARKOZY (Weir at odds) has won a couple of moderate races but keeps improving to do so.

SUGGESTED: FURRION best of the day.

Race 8: 6-2-5-14.

Typically tough Wangoom but like MOSS ‘N’ DALE fresh, just an honest trier who has raised the bar to this level. Won on a heavy at the carnival last year and loves that sort of ground, won’t get it as soft today but trialled up well and happy to go with it. STELLAR COLLISION and HANDSOME THIEF give Weir legitimate winning chances while BONS AWAY is ready.

SUGGESTED: Missed the $9 MOSS ‘N’ DALE but still think it’s the one at the odds.

Race 9: 3-6-2-12

It’s guess who again – Weir. But which one. He has the top two here in LUCKY FOR ALL good on Aussie debut on heavy at Terang and HEAVENLY THOUGHT who had blinkers at Sandown and was good without best run chasing, will like the 1700m. MAXEY CAMPO broke through last time now gets gear change. SKILLED ASSASSIN might be the best value away from the guns.

SUGGESTED: Going LUCKY FOR ALL but have to take Weir quinella.

Race 10: 7-6-8-14

THINK BABE did it tough Lakeside last time resuming and edge gave out. Like this draw from what we saw day 1, trucking 2-3 wide with cover and working to the centre of the track. Winner only start on track. THE MOOD I’M IN had excuses Sandown, previous two wins strong including one this track and WEATHER CHANNEL lost to the promising Tatoosh on protest two runs back then that horse beat it again Oakbank last time. That’s good enough. MAKATITI doesn’t win often but makes own luck.

SUGGESTED: THINK BABE to win.
