Rail Position: +4.5m Entire Course

Track Condition: Good 4

Weather: Fine

Penetrometer: 5.1

Best Bets:

WIN Race 5 Number 4 GRAFF

EACH WAY Race 6 Number 7 PEDRENA

RACE 1

Looks a 2 horse race here between 3 HAVASAY & 7 TYZONE, who are both coming off excellent last start wins. 7 HAVASAY was very good in circling the field and winning running away last time, from the good gate he has the advantage here and he is on top. & TYZONE will need some luck from the gate but can win if that luck is good.

Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 10

Bet: WIN 3 HAVASAY

RACE 2

2 DARK DREAM is short, but rightly so and looks a good thing. He was dominant last start, and really powered away from his rivals the last 200m. He will race speed again and looks the obvious one to beat.  10 TIME LORD was a good winner in his first Australian run, he can get a nice smother in the run here and can run into the minor money.

Numbers: 2 – 10 – 11 – 12

Bet: WIN 2 DARK DREAM

Race 3

The Premiers Cup over 2200m has brought together a very competitive field, with a number of different from lines.  3 KIWIA was a touch disappointing last start in the Warrnambool Cup, with the stewards report showing he pulled up slightly lame after the race. His form last preparation is excellent for this, including a win the Group 3 COONGY Hcp and second to QEWY in the Bendigo Cup. If he wasn’t right and ready to go, DK Weir wouldn’t have flown him up, D LANE on from a good gate, he’s a bet.

Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 11

Bet: EACH WAY 3 KIWIA

Race 4

Looks to decent speed here, a shame they scratched Dreams Aplenty, as he would have ensured an even more genuine speed. 1 ITS SOMEWHAT is the interesting runner here, whom I think at his best would be winning. He was a noted betting drifter last time, and raced flat, so any market move here will be a good indicator. He looks to get all the favors from the draw, notably BLINKERS FIRST TIME and can win. 2 RED EXCITEMENT stretched WINX 2nd up last prep over the mile and has a good record at the trip.

Numbers: 1  – 2 – 3  –  14

Bet: WIN 1 IT’S SOMEWHAT

Race 5

Really like the style of 4 GRAFF and they way he’s gone about his 2 wins. He looks like he has no idea what it’s all about but has still managed to real off some good sectionals in winning. The key here, is he get BLINKERS FIRST TIME, which will sharpen him up, and allow him to settle closer. If he puts it all together here, I think he wins and wins well. 3 ZOUSAIN & 7 LEAN MEAN MACHINE are a couple of hopes, but I think they are better suited to the 1600m JJ ATKINS in a couple of weeks time.

Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 5

Bet: WIN 4 GRAFF

Race 6

Ripping race the GLENLOGAN PARK STAKES for the fillies and mare. A very even field, and difficult to line up the form lines.  It’s hard to go past 7 PEDRENA here as an Each Way play. She is a super consistent mare, who resumed in the Group 1 SANGSTER STAKES Behind SHOALS, who is in scintillating form. She went back from a wide gate on that occasion and ran well to beaten 4.6L. Prior to that run, she has been excellent, including a win at GROUP 3 level in Melbourne. She gets a perfect run in transit from the inside gate and looks a safe each way play.

Numbers:  7 – 12 – 11 – 14

Bet: EACH WAY 7 PEDRENA

Race 7

The GROUP 1 KINGSFORD SMITH CUP over 1350m, and a good field engaged. I can see this race being a very similar result to the DOOMBEN 10,000 with 2 LE ROMAIN,  1 IMPENDING and 9 ENGLISH fighting out the finish, with 11 CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES and 3 CARE TO THINK running on late into the minor money. I’m going with 2 LE ROMAIN, who was the run of the race in the DOOMBEN 10,000 last start, sitting wide before being run down late.  He’s a genuine Group 1 performer, winning 3 times and finishing in the top 3 7 from 14 goes at this level. He will race just behind the speed and hit the front halfway down the straight and hold his rivals at bay. 1 IMPENDING will likely get back and look for cover and will be storming home late.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 11 – 9

Bet: WIN 2 LE ROMAIN

Race 8

The QLD OAKS for the fillies and another cracking race. 3 YOUNGSTAR was ultra impressive in winning the lead up race here 2 weeks ago, and of the horses we’ve seen here in QLD so far, she looks the one to beat. Not entirely sold that penny has dropped with her yet, she seems to be winning on raw ability. K McEvoy really had to get into her to get rolling last time, and she picked up and was really strong through the line. She will need a clear path into the race from the 600m, and if she gets it she’s the horse to beat. 2 SHEEZDASHING has just got better and better as she has gone up in trip and looks the major danger to the favorite. She was strong late last time out, almost winning the SA OAKS, and that run tells me the 2200m of this race will suit her. She’s more than triple the price of the favorite, and profiles like a similar horse, so I am happy to be on here also.

Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 4

Bet: WIN 3 YOUNSTAR & 2 SHEEZDASHING for a + result

Race 9

The FRED BEST CLASSIC for the 3 year olds to wind up a big day of racing. Expect 4 PERAST to find the fence first and then look for 2 WHYPEEO screaming across. I’ve got a question mark over 2 WHYPEEO here, he’s not the best beginner, and Jeff will likely be tardy away on him here, and he will have to use him up to get on speed. That makes him vulnerable the last 150m, so I’m looking for something settling midfield with cover that can zoom late and be in the finish. 13 FEMME FIREBALL is going better than her form suggests, and she is a sneaky blow out chance at huge odds. She will get a soft run in transit from the gate, and with BLINKERS FIRST time, I think she can run a huge race.

Numbers: 13 – 3 – 2 – 6

Bet: 1 x 3 EACH WAY 13 FEMME FIREBALL
