Snowy Clark’s preview & best Sale

SALE May 30

It’s a Weiry Free Wednesday – no runners from the premier stable that punters love to follow – what to do? We get a fairly challenging mid-week card on the likeable Sale track which comes up surprisingly a good 4 rated surface on race morning.

BEST BET: MOSS ‘N’ BOLT R4 # 6

BEST VALUE: QUEEN ANNABEL R5 #10

Race 1: 8-10-2-7

Tricky race, from top BYE BYE JAGUAR ($325k weanling) debuts off decent jumpout, over odds at $20. CAVALINI ($310k yearling) ran well in the Debutant Stakes as a $31 chance and recent trial behind Crossing The Abbey sound. LOVE LUCILLE showed pace at Pakenham when in market resuming, fitter here. PROPELLE was a well backed $2.6 favourite Sandown debut, did enough, RIVERINA DANCER was 7th there then TRILLI ($67.5k NZ yearling) trialled up well in the spring beating unbeaten Rock The World and recent jumpout good. Been very well backed. UNIFY trialled fairly Sydney but looked better Melbourne jumpouts.

SUGGESTED: Early money for TRILLI to threaten favourite PROPELLE but having something on CAVALINI around $4.4 in tough race.

Race 2: 1-3-5-9

CHERIEF’S CHOICE will run favourite again (beaten 3 times as fave including one when beaten by MISS NORWAY) before good 2nd Egyptian Bullet who then won at Flemington so again reads well but sticking at the $6.5 Miss Norway resuming here off decent recent jumpout. LORETO has switched to Mark Young from Tony McEvoy and recent trial looked sharp. BRALCA’S GEM won a recent trial, likes soft ground and is some value chance.

SUGGESTED: MISS NORWAY at the $6.5

Race 3: 11-3-7-1

Been waiting for SALLYBROOK since The Bool, missed a start recently but don’t want to miss it here especially at the odds ($11). CALL IT A DAY resumes with a winning trial but has never run at 1000m, still respected. FLASH CASH was strong late on the Pakenham synthetic. NEW YORK CELEBRITY resumes with Callow back and all 4 wins have been at this short trip.

SUGGESTED: SALLYBROOK looks over the odds for me at $11.

Race 4: 6-1-5-7

Very keen on MOSS ‘N’ BOLT (obviously brother to MOSS ‘N’ DALE) but ran into hot race The Bool where Thunder Cloud beat heavily backed Hang Man who came out and walked in at its next start. Has far more upside than these. NORTHERN JOURNEY is at this level and unlikely to get much higher but has won 2 races Sale and makes own luck. FLAAJ was good and tough off break between runs, GEODESIC won an easier race last start.

SUGGESTED: MOSS ‘N’ BOLT to win, happy to take $2.6.

Race 5: 10-8-4-1

Like a bit of value here in QUEEN ANNABEL, no recent wins but last run here (on home track) excellent – was meant to be ridden closer but went back to old ways of missing the start. Just think at $12 is a fair gamble. LIBERAL ARTS comes off a maiden but horse it beat at Echuca won its next start. LOVE DAYS had an ordinary last campaign but has more ability that what has shown, maybe starting again will help. WEEKEND ESCAPE usually competitive this level.

SUGGESTED: Having something around $12 QUEEN ANNABEL but load quaddie.

Race 6: 12-10-5-9

BONFIRE GOLD resumes (with C Williams – positive). Cranbourne win was on a heavy but unlucky on debut. Might have been too wet for SISKEN last time, forgiving that effort. Might be a bit much asking BELIEVING to go back to back after its breakthrough win Pakenham (synthetic) but rarely runs poorly. Mick Price scratched clear early favourite King’s Authority but represented by BOOM CHICKA BOOM who drops in grade from city effort latest.

SUGGESTED: Tough, wide quaddie, something BONFIRE GOLD at $8.5.

Race 7: 7-5-2-12

KACHING boasts a placing to Peaceful State, ran well in town last start, drawn to get good run, think it’s the one to beat but not a $2.25 chance. Clearly the one to beat but…….  METEOR LIGHT, is an import on debut, typically boasts form over longer there but respecting talent here this grade on the big track. LUCKY PADDY had no luck Geelong when beaten 1.2lens (albeit $51 chance). ALI ORPHAN won here BM64 last time, not that much tougher here.

SUGGESTED: KACHING on top from form, not keen on price.

Race 8: 12-15-4-1

Looks winnable race for ONEMORE EMOTION who improved out to 1500m at Cranbourne, now at 1619m here should be ready to go one better. Thinking BOSS STRIKER a significant player, has come via WA and Tassie to Freedman and got too far back last time, also suited this trip. Not much between next pair of hopes DOMINANT GENE and DISTANT SKY from latest Sale appearances (that’s the Ali Orphan form-r7)

SUGGESTED: Keen ONE MORE EMOTION around $6.5

QUADDIE:

1-4-8-10

1-5-10-11-12

7

1-4-12-15

$40 for 50%
