Shane Ciurleo’s best bet Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast Turf Club Saturday, 02 June 2018

Rail Position: True Entire Course

Track Condition: Heavy 8

Weather: Fine

Penetrometer: 6.98

A heavy track makes this 9 race card quiet tricky to negotiate, but have found a few plays that look some value on a difficult day.

Best Bets:

Race 2 Number 2 BRING IT HOME POP $8 EACH WAY

Bring It Home Pop is well-performed 3yo from the Darryl Hansen yard, which goes particularly well on the home track. He resumed last preparation with a strong win ion good grade on a heavy track, before running second to PIERATA.  He gets similar conditions to that which he won first up last prep and repeat the dose here.

Race 4 Number 1 ONLY WANNA SING $8 EACH WAY

The wraps from the stable have been quite large on this horse, he has shown above average ability and looks suited here. His 2 runs from a spell have been good enough in harder grade, and this race looks easier.  He maps to get a nice run in transit, the rain affected track doesn’t pose an issue, and he looks a safe EW play.

Race 7 Number 2 THE MONSTAR $4.60 WIN

From the astute B CAVANOUGH stable, 2 THE MONSTAR is just a model of consistency who continues to race at all levels. Last preparation he chased the likes of REDZEL & IN HER TIME and co at Group level, and sound last start behind OSBOURNE BULLS. A noted on speed runner, who loves the wet, he gets the opportunity to dictate the speed here, and give a big kick on straightening for Skye Bogenhuber, who has won him previously. Looks a good bet, and a safe 1×2 for those inclined, I’ll be betting WIN only.

Race 8 Number 6 KIMBERLEY STAR $34 BEST ROUGHIE

Her form on paper doesn’t look great since coming to QLD, but she looks primed to run her best race for T Gollan here. Big tick with the jockey change here, with J ORMAN going on will ensure she gets every hope. She was pulled out of the race first up when not in a winning position at the 300m. Then second up, never hit top gear and found more rump than a butchers hook in the home straight.  Her three runs last preparation, all at Group 3 level, where good enough to give this a big shake. Big chance at big odds and an EW bet for me.
