Race 1

Liked the way 2 USURP trialed in preparation for this. He began well, was restrained back in the field with cover, before stretching out nicely in the straight. Has found a mediocre maiden to kick off his QLD career, and looks the winner here.

Race 2

5 FELINO BEL looks to be in career best form and gets her chance to win again here. Expecting J Byrne to take her back at the tarts, weave a way through and burst clear late.

Race 3

Difficult race to dissect, with a number of 2 and 3 year olds engaged against the older horses. 13 TRAIL OF GLORY is a 2-year-old filly having her first start from the T Gollan stable. She trialed up nicely, taken off the speed to tuck in behind, before finding the line nicely under a hold. She looks to get a nice run from gate 1, and happy to be on her Each Way.

Race 4

2 EXCALIBRATOR has come up good odds and looks to be a good each way chance in an even field. He has trialed well and looks to get a nice run on speed and should get every chance. 5 MR HENNESSY & 7 FREQUENDLY can fill the minors.

Race 5

5 MISTOFLEES looks t o have found the right race, with the right gate, to break through for his first QLD win. He was a good effort coming off the speed 3 back against BONSHO, then lost the rider 2 starts ago in stronger grade. He then went on a 7 day back on a heavy track at the Gold Coast, where he was squeezed out the back at the start. Better suited here, a good each way hope.

Race 6

Although he is drawn wide, 5 THE OVERDRAFT can roll forward, find a spot in the running line and be hard to beat. He has been in consistent form on wet and dry surfaces of late, and I expect him to be the hardest to beat here.   A number of chances for the minor money, including 6 SIDERO STAR & 2 MAHARNI who are racing well.

Race 7

1 KING DINISTRY has drawn to lead here and can give a great sight. He has continued to improve and can win again. 10 RED COLOUR is another who will sit up on the speed and comes off a last start win. Stable is in form, watch the market for any lead from the stable. 8 SIR BARNABUS will likely need 1 more, but I like him at the mile.

Race 8

Can forgive 8 BEAU ISA for his last start, when he was back and trapped wide.  Clearly no match for the first 2 across the line, but wasn’t far away from the rest off them.  He gest gate 1 here, which should see him get a better run.  2 LE MATTAN will likely get back, but with luck can be steaming home into the finish. 6 THE ICE KNIGHT will be a hope on his best also.
