BEST BETS:

Race 3             No.3    TUMBLER

Race 6             No.7    ORIENTAL RUNNER

Race 1

Denbern and Mornington are will both enjoy the better surface than the heavy conditions they have been racing on of late. If the track remains Good Mornington gets his chance to improve sharply. Last time he saw a good track he did it tough and ran third to Follow Suit and Plymouth Road who have both go onto to win more city races. Denbern came off a three week freshen up went up 400m in trip and hit a heavy track. He will improve enormously especially from his draw which should see him get a nice run. San Telmo can bounce back down in grade while High Degree is also dropping in grade having run in the Caloundra Cup last start.

6 – 3 – 1 – 5

Race 2

Miss Quaintly created a big impression when winning strongly on debut beating Winter Passage before being tough when narrowly beaten by Soaring Heart. She looks well placed here and the extra distance up to the mile looks right up her alley. Red Stina was very good first up before racing below her best last time out in same race as Miss Quaintly when she started a lot short in the market so she must be highly regarded here. They look the two with Soaring Heart the other leading chance and he can easily beaten them again but it will depend on how much work he does early and if he runs a strong mile.

3 – 10 – 1 – 2

Race 3

It looks a two horse race with Amanaat resuming having not raced since blowing away a quality field in the listed Weetwood Handicap back in April. One thing about this gelding is that he is a winner having saluted eight times from his 12 career starts. He will make his presence felt. Tumbler was a late scratching last week at the Sunshine Coast and from gate one she s=does look to get a nice drop on the leading bunch. She is four weeks between runs and its 1200m compared to the 1000m last Saturday but with a 4kg pull in the weights I have sided with Tumbler.

3 – 1 – 2 – 6

Race 4

Pressway is airborne of late and if he has any luck from the wide barrier he will take some beating here. He drops sharply in weight with the claim for Jackson Murphy and won’t have any issues with the mile where he is one for one. Cedarwood from the powerful Chris Waller yard had his first run up here two weeks ago and was very strong on a heavy surface that he hadn’t fired on previously. Lord Coconuts looks big odds from a good gate with the claim and following a strong first up run. Clever Blaze Reeled them in easily to salute at Ipswich at latest. Has claims.

12 – 7 – 1 – 15

Race 5

Tabbing looks to get the right run here on-pace and only needs to repeat his last start dominant win at Ipswich. That was the first time he had fired on anything other than a good surface. Hellaroo did a good job at Grafton when beaten by King Lear who is low flying. The packing field suited King Lear and I thought she did a good job to beat the others. Ignite The Light has had two runs back this time around now and having drawn barrier one and the claim for Corey Bayliss he will race prominently and be in the mix.

3 – 15 – 9 – 8

Race 6

The Sydney visitor Oriental Runner comes with solid form and looks to have sufficient early speed to take control of this race and be hard to get past. The good gate and good surface are in his favour and if he can produce his run of three ago when second to Albumin and do it at 1350m he will be winning. Natch has taken a step up of late winning two on the run in fine style and will be strong at the end of the 1350m. Bergerac steps back up to 1350m and being the class runner he is sure to be coming and fast in the home straight.

7 – 10 – 1 – 6

Race 7

Winter Bride is racing in great heart around some handy horses and looks the testing material here. She flies here at Doomben and with what looks a fair tempo she will get her chance to run home powerfully. If there is a danger it may well be Miss Exfactor who after three runs back this preparation she steps up to 1200m and gets a nice surface. Easy Beast had his first run up our way last start at the Gold Coast and he was ultra impressive albeit on a heavy track over 900m. That said his best form had been on good tracks so he must be given serious thought here even in though he takes on a few handy ones.

3 – 8 – 1 – 16

Race 8

Scallopini did us a big favour last start at Ipswich where he had a class edge and from barrier one here he must be a serious player. I have tipped Italia Bella on top that has had three weeks off after failing in a tougher grade on heavy ground. She finally gets a good surface and with the pull in the weights and a big field which should ensure the speed is reasonably strong giving her the chance to run over them. Kubis steps up in trip and with improvement from his first up run he looks a winning chance.

16 – 4 – 2 – 9

Race 9

Religify will trying to kick up and hold the front with Sheiswhatsheis will coming across and probably finds the spot outside him. Cantbuybetter will need a touch of luck having drawn outside Sheiswhatsheis but what it does mean is that Princess Posh looks to get all the favours from gate three. She was solid in winning here two weeks ago yet I think she shows a better turn of speed on a good surface and from a soft run she will be hard to hold out.

6 – 5 – 9 – 3
