BEST BETS:

RACE 4                        NO.10              EGG TART

EGG TART finished her last preparation in slashing form running second in the group 1 Doomben cup before an easy win in the group 2 P.J O’Shea stakes and she looks to have returned in just as good an order. She resumed with no luck when beaten narrowly in the Tramway Stakes before an eye-catching third to the champion WINX. She steps to 2000m here and should be able to settle wherever Kerrin McEvoy wishes and round them up. If the anticipated bit of rain comes overnight the margin will just be bigger.

RACE 6                        NO.2                MISS FABULASS

The girl has always had a huge rap on her shoulders but after looking a little disappointing in the Furious Stakes when ridden on the speed the jury was out. But wow didn’t we learn a lesson with a dominant barnstorming win in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes last start when ridden cold and allowed to relax early before coming with a powerful finish. The step to the mile looks right up her alley and as long as McEvoy can find a passage she should be very hard to stop.

RACE 7                        NO.3                D’ARGENTO

No one missed D’argento’s first up effort when charging to the line behind WINX over 1400m showing he has come back in good order. With this race in mind and to keep the spring in his step Chris Waller then brought the son of So You Think back to 1300m and he was very good on a heavy track when chasing all the way to the line. He comes here three weeks between runs and steps to the mile and with only 53.5kg on his back and gate one he only needs galloping room which I will leave up to J Mac and he will be very hard to hold out. Pierata and Unforgotten look worthy opponents but I think D’argento is the class galloper that is well weighted and drawn perfectly and all being even I think another group one is within his grasp.
