Never easy to debut in Saturday and on a heavy track and get the chocolates but I am in the corner of DETERGE today in the opening race. He covered ground in his only trial and although he couldn’t run down the leader they cleared out from the others and he looked a nice colt with plenty of r ace sense. Prepared by James Cummings who has his youngsters flying this colt by Exceed And Excel but more importantly out of a Lonhro mare only needs to gets through the heavy ground to start with a bang in his career.
RACE 6 NO.8 THE ART OF THE BAR
The big query for many today is assessing THE ART OF THE BAR is if the filly will run a strong 1400m. On a dry track I would be concerned but I’ve seen many horses that love wet ground just keep running and this filly two started ago won by a widening 6 ½ lengths here on a similar surface. The race starts from the 1400m chute meaning there is one turning being the home bend so Tim Clark can mind his own business and travel where ever he wants and then hopefully kick as they approach the corner. She didn’t win by as far last start on a good surface but what she did do was find under pressure a sign of a handy galloper.
