Peter Hulbert happy after Millions fifth

The happiest connections of an unplaced runner in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic are those who race Oh Five Glory.

The filly started at $101 but ran a great race, finishing fifth after coming from well back in the field.

It was the best effort by a Queensland horse in the race and was a great pointer to the winter.

Peter Hulbert, who trains the filly in partnership with his son Will, said plans could now be made to run Oh Five Glory at the winter carnival.

“We said all week it was just great to be in the race and that we were sure she would not disgrace Queensland,” Hulbert said.

“She didn’t have much luck and had she got out a touch earlier might have picked up fourth money.

“But we are delighted and I think the form out of the Millions this year will be strong. I reckon the four that beat her are genuine Group horses and hopefully so are we.”

The winner Exhilarates is now the second favourite for the Golden Slipper in March behind her Godolphin stablemate Tassort.

Hulbert said a race like the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes in May could be ideal for Oh Five Glory.

The filly is raced by a group of Wests Tigers supporters and named for the Tigers 2005 NRL grand final win.
