Reloaded to run at Randwick before Atkins

Reloaded will follow the same path to the J J Atkins Stakes taken successfully by his former stablemate The Autumn Sun.

Trained by Chris Waller, Reloaded is the early favourite for the season’s final Group One race for juveniles at Eagle Farm on June 8.

He will run over 1400 metres at Randwick on Saturday in preparation for the 1600m-race Waller has won previously with Pressday (2010), Press Statement (2015) and The Autumn Sun last year.

The Autumn Sun, who will stand at Arrowfield Stud in the spring, won the corresponding race at Randwick and Waller would prefer to run Reloaded in his home state before taking him north.

“He will be entered for the Sires’ Produce Stakes in Brisbane as well just in case there is a change in the weather,” Waller said.

“But ideally he will run here.”

Reloaded is the $4.50 early favourite for the Atkins ahead of stablemate Accession ($6) who is already in Queensland at Waller’s Gold Coast stable.

Accession finished a close second to Stronger in the Ken Russell Memorial at the Gold Coast on May 4.

Reloaded has had one start for a win over 1200m at Randwick on April 25.

He is by Group One-winning sprinter, champion sire Snitzel, and has stamina on his dam’s side with his mother Hollow Bullet the winner of the 2004 VRC Oaks (2500m) and Arrowfield Stud Stakes (2000m) the following autumn.

Of the four Group One two-year-old races already run, Godolphin has won three with Lyre in the Blue Diamond Stakes, Kiamichi in the Golden Slipper and Microphone in the ATC Sires’ Produce stakes.

The Richard Litt-trained Castelvecchio, who beat Accession to win the Inglis Millennium, won the Champagne Stakes.

Waller has confirmed 2018 Atkins runner-up Zousain has gone for a spell with a view to training on as a four-year-old.

“Zousain is a Group One horse every day of the week. He has the ability to win a Group one before he goes to stud,” he said.

The colt, who was also second to The Autumn Sun in the Golden Rose, spiked a temperature when he arrived in Queensland and Waller abandoned his winter carnival plans.
