Josh Parr injures knee in tumble

In-form jockey Josh Parr will spend the next couple of days nursing an injured knee suffered in a fall as he was about to celebrate a victory at Warwick Farm.

Parr came off the Rebecca Dunn-trained On Her Word past the winning post after Wednesday’s first race, an 1100m-maiden.

The winner of four races at his past three meetings, Parr is booked to ride leading contender Yogi in the Listed Winter Cup at Rosehill on Saturday.

He was found to have a dislocated patella and strained ligaments in his right knee which will be treated with ice, rest and pain killers.

The win was an emotional win for Newcastle trainer Dunn and her first metropolitan success with the filly she bought unseen for $500.

“A friend of mine was at the sales the day she went through,” Dunn said.

“I asked her to take a look at her for me.

“She turned up at my place an absolute mess. She was no glamour puss that’s for sure.”

Dunn said On Her Word’s early training had been difficult because she used to buck but she had now figured out what it was all about.

On Her Word has now had three starts for two seconds at Gosford before Wednesday ‘s win.

Sent out at $3.50, On Her Word beat the favourite L’Cosmo ($2.25) by a length.
