Parr, King to both miss Winter Cup meeting

Group One-winning jockeys Josh Parr and Rachel King have both been ruled out of the Winter Cup meeting at Rosehill because of injuries.

Parr tumbled from On Her Word after winning the opening race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and Racing NSW stewards confirmed on Friday he had been ruled out of Saturday’s meeting because of a medial tear to his right knee suffered in the incident.

Parr’s book of six rides at Rosehill included Yogi in the Listed Winter Cup (2400m), with Glyn Schofield picking up the ride on the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained stayer who runs for the first time since being unplaced in the Group One Sydney Cup in April.

Parr was also scheduled to ride the Mark Newnham-trained Quackerjack and Sweet Victory who are $2.25 and $4.40 favourites in their respective races on Saturday, while his other rides included Gentle Persuasion, Toni Nicconi and Dalmatia Prince.

Jay Ford has picked up the ride on Quackerjack, Sam Clipperton will ride Sweet Victory and Tim Clark, who has recovered from injuring his thumb at Randwick on Monday, is on Toni Nicconi.

King also had a number of rides on the program including Fragonard, Handspun and Revenire for Godolphin but she has been ruled out after suffering a broken finger in a barrier accident at Gosford on Thursday.
