Red-letter day for Snowdens at Rosehill

Peter and Paul Snowden have made a clean sweep of the feature races at Rosehill, coming away from the nine-race program with a perfect strike-rate.

The father-and-son training partners saddled up horses in three races and won all of them, including the $1 million Golden Gift (1100m) with juvenile Dame Giselle while stablemate Blaze A Trail finished third.

The Snowdens went one better a race later, preparing the quinella when Reelem In Ruby scored an important black-type win in the Group Three Hot Danish Stakes (1400m), downing Moss Trip.

The Snowden’s earlier victory came courtesy of California Longbow, while Reelem In Ruby broke through for her maiden stakes win at just her second attempt after finishing runner-up in the Nivison.

“She has been knocking on the door,” Paul Snowden said.

“It’s her tenth start in a race and she hasn’t finished further back than third in her life.

“It was really vital to get that black type on her page for her breeding career.”

The Group Three Festival Stakes (1500m) at the end of the month is a possible short-term target for Reelem In Ruby, ahead of a Group One Coolmore Classic campaign in the autumn.

Reelem In Ruby is raced by Triple Crown Syndications which has swapped its traditional all-red colours for all-pink during November in support of the McGrath foundation.

The mare was their first winner in the charity silks.

Tim Clark trailed the speed on Releem In Ruby ($3.80 fav) and she bounded to the front to score by 1-1/4 lengths over Moss Trip ($26) with El Dorado Dreaming ($10) doing her best work late another long neck back.

It was a fitting victory for Clark who was the regular rider of Hot Danish.

“It’s nice to win the race named in her honour because she did so much for me and my career,” Clark said.

“She (the winner) is a very genuine little filly, she fights above her weight category, that’s for sure. She just pins the ears back and has a real crack.”

Paul Snowden was rapt to wind up the week with a hat-trick at Rosehill after a winless Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.
