Futurity pair get first look at Caulfield

Two of the top three market contenders for the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield have had their first look at the track ahead of the Group One race.

New Zealand mare Melody Belle, with Paul Richards in the saddle, teamed with a member of the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable for a familiarisation gallop at Caulfield ahead of Saturday’s race.

The Chris Waller-trained Kolding, with Glen Boss aboard, worked with stablemate Kings Will Dream, ridden by Mark Zahra, in an important hit-out at Caulfield ahead of his first Victorian start.

Melody Belle holds favouritism for Saturday’s race at $2.80 while Kolding is on the third line at $3.50 with Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth splitting the pair at $3.

The final field and barrier draw for Saturday’s 1400m-race will be declared on Wednesday.
