Lindsay Park aims for Australian Guineas victory with Ndola

Lindsay Park, under the guidance of Ben, Will, and J D Hayes, is hoping to end a long drought in the Australian Guineas this Saturday.

Ndola will represent the stable in the Group 1 1600m race at Flemington, aiming to give Lindsay Park their first victory in the event since Miss Finland in 2007, trained by David Hayes.

The Australian Guineas has been run since 1986, with Lindsay Park winning three of the first five editions through Military Plume (1987), King’s High (1989), and Zabeel (1990), all under the training of Colin Hayes.

Ndola enters the Australian Guineas third-up after finishing last in his first-up race at Sandown on January 25. He showed significant improvement in his second-up effort, finishing behind Sepals in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) on February 8.

Ben Hayes said the team has seen steady progress in Ndola’s form, noting his strong performance in the CS Hayes Stakes and confidence heading into Saturday’s race.

“He came out of that last race really well after having the widest draw,” Hayes explained. “His run was enormous, and he’s ready for this race.”

Ndola will step up to the 1600m for the first time in his career, but Hayes believes the distance won’t be an issue.

“Ndola has been targeted for this race, and although he had some setbacks earlier, he’s matured well and is now on track,” Hayes added.

The team is hopeful that Ndola can show his potential and deliver a strong performance on a firm track this Saturday.
