Lindsay Park pair chase city wins

The Lindsay Park stable of Ben, Will and J D Hayes will chase Super VOBIS bonus money at Caulfield with two impressive debut winners.

Dom lines up in the VOBIS Gold Ingot (1400m) while Ndola will attempt to do his bit for the stable in the MRC Chairman’s Club Handicap (1200m).

On top of the prize money already on offer, both races have an additional $30,000 in bonuses.

Dom was successful over 1430m at Geelong on July 12, racing away to a 5-½ length victory.

While the stable thought Dom had the ability, J D Hayes did not expect him to win so emphatically.

“He had trialled up nicely and had a really good base fitness under him and we just loved the way that he did it,” Hayes told RSN.

“He may be one of those horses that saves his competitiveness for race day too and goes to another level, so we’re really happy to raise the bar this weekend.”

Ndola, a colt by Justify, was taken to the Pakenham synthetic track for his debut on June 24 where he registered a comfortable 2-½ length success.

Hayes said the stable had a bit of time for Ndola and expect him to race through the grades.

“He’s by the right sire Justify and is a lovely type of horse, very strong and very scopey,” Hayes said.

“Although it was on the synthetic, he did break the track record, so it was a very good win, and it had a lot of merit behind it.

“He’s done well with his time between runs and has had a jump-out (at Flemington) since.”

Hayes said he and his brothers want to see how both Dom and Ndola perform on Saturday but have already pencilled in some early spring assignments.

“We’re not going to get too far ahead of ourselves, as they were maiden wins, but we have had a thought about spring,” Hayes said.

“But we’ll be more knowledgeable after Saturday if they do it again.”
