Lucy Fiore is closing in on 100 winners for the season, marking a personal milestone for the second time in her career.
Fiore’s impressive Ascot treble last Saturday, which included victory in the main race, brought her season tally to 74 wins.
She secured further success aboard Generosity in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m), and also rode Brazen Empress and WA Derby hopeful Sail Session to victory.
Currently ranked fourth in the Western Australian jockey’s premiership, Fiore is on track to surpass her career-high 102 wins set in 2015/16.
Reflecting on her success, Fiore credits hard work and dedication for her recent resurgence.
“I’m aiming for a 100 wins this season,” Fiore said on Tabradio. “It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden 100 winners in a season.”
Fiore’s persistence paid off with an Ascot 1000 Guineas win on Glasgow Lass, and the pair will now target further stakes success in the Natasha Stakes (2200m) this Saturday.
