No Limitation eyes Dequetteville Stakes after maiden win

No Limitation could make her next appearance in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville after securing her maiden win at Sandown on Wednesday.

The Clayton Douglas-trained filly led from start to finish in the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m), holding off the $2.45 favourite, Facilitate, to win by a short-half-head. Petit Artiste finished third, half a head behind.

Douglas confirmed the Dequetteville Stakes, scheduled for April 5, was on the horizon for the two-year-old. Despite her previous two starts yielding disappointing results, she had faced stronger opposition than what she encountered on Wednesday.

No Limitation had dropped in grade after a solid performance in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes before being freshened.

“I thought Luke rated her really well out in front,” said Douglas. “She probably needed the line late, and with six weeks between runs, she should improve.”

Douglas was pleased with the win, which he hoped would give No Limitation the confidence to tackle tougher races ahead, including the upcoming Dequetteville Stakes.
