Schiller set for big day at Randwick with Hawkes duo

Tyler Schiller is in a fortunate position, riding the favourites in two Group One races at Randwick, both trained by Team Hawkes.

The renowned training trio of John, Wayne, and Michael Hawkes have been key supporters of Schiller. He will team up with them again, partnering the exciting sprinter Briasa in the All Aged Stakes (1400m) and Nepotism, a close relative of Black Caviar, in the Champagne Stakes (1600m).

“It’s great they’re both for Team Hawkes,” Schiller said.

He reflected on the special feeling of winning the T J Smith Stakes on Briasa, noting, “To reward Michael, Wayne and John with a Group One makes it even more special.”

While John Hawkes rarely attends the track, he remains a significant influence on Schiller’s growth as a rider, offering advice even on rides outside the Hawkes stable.

“I’ve done a lot of work with the Hawkes team and it always improves me as a rider,” Schiller added.

Schiller is optimistic about Briasa’s chances, with the gelding yet to reach his full potential, despite winning seven of nine starts. Schiller is also excited about Nepotism’s prospects, noting his impressive performances so far and his potential for more success.

Schiller will also partner Frank Packer Plate (2000m) favourite Swiftfalcon among his eight rides on the day.
